Unless you have used the feed you are just blowing smoke. Feed quality is judged by what it does for the dog and not by someone that has no knowledge of how the feed is formulated or the quality of the ingredients used. I do know any legume is a source of quality protein but just as important it is...

If you need rewards for training try a small bag of Royal Canin Labrador. The kibble is giant and it is much cheaper than treats.

To the contrary, it is the active ingredient in most eye washes a vet would give you and very gentle. Buy the boric acid at the pharmacy and use 1/8th teaspoon measured with a baking spoon and a cup of sterile water.

It is a good idea to flush any debris especially seeds. Saline is good but I keep a boric acid mix in the fridge.

You can buy Dr. Tim's Pursuit for $1.25lb on PetFlow. TOTW costs much more like $1.50+ a lb and you will feed a lot more.

The Kuranda bed is great idea and there is also a solid vinyl material that looks really good for outdoor use. An English Cocker would do well on the medium size.

I have a ballistic nylon Kuranda bed and it wears really well and cleans up easily.

GA and 'as fed" are the same. The 26% refers to what is on the bag, or GA and 'as fed'.

I think you are thinking of "dry matter basis".

Lentils certainly are an interesting ingredient. Just keep in mind they add a ton of protein, so the meat component of the protein is probably not as high as other foods. There are also peas, which are also high in protein.

See how it goes.

Thanks for clarifying mcbosco. So the baseline would be 28/20 guaranteed analysis feed. Thus, based on the article and your clarification. I don't read the article that way because of the reference to 24% of calories. He is not saying a food with 24/20% GA protein is baseline sufficient. I work the math being 28-29% GA protein. Dr. Tim's Pursuit 30/20, and yes I see no reason to change based on season, just amount. 30/20's are a good way to keep carbohydrate consumption low without spending much more money on high protein GF foods. Dogs love pork in a kibble. When Back to Basics first came out I bought a small bag of the Pork formula which has pork fat and fresh organ meats plus the pork meal and my normally picky dog was jumping on me.

Too bad that food is $3lb.

I really like the two Korean tire companies for truck tires. Kumho & Hankook. I had a set of Hankook DynaPro's on a suburban that lasted 75k. Also had good luck with them on a Jeep. They may not last as long as Michelins but they are much cheaper. Ford has them as O/E now I think.

PetFlow had a 30% off special over the 4th and it applied to free shipping items as well.

PetFlow is nice because the company has a warehouse in Nevada and in New Jersey, so shipping is pretty quick no matter where you are.

It makes sense for some people and some items.

Check the pads and in between the pads for a thorn or splinter, even a small stone. I found my dog limping and he had an acorn stuck between his pads that I didn't see right away.

I think that's a good lookin' dog. It's interesting to look at the different sectors of the birddog world and see what kind of dogs they turn out. American trial dogs, I think, are the biggest anomaly out there. Put a typical high-octane American trial dog up against any other birddong in the world...

I think she is looking at some wet areas thinking the dog was clipped poorly but that dog has been hand-stripped, perhaps more than most would do.

Oh Brian, please don't ever clip your dog. Some areas you can trim with scissors. Learn how to hand-strip or find a groomer that will do it.

He and I have been chatting about standards and differences outside the US. Take a look at this European Spinone. He goes 100lbs fit and check the back-end and the flat Italia-Style coat. On point his tail is 9 or lower.
