If you are interested in attracting new blood why not have a category for people with less than __ years experience, so newbies don't have to compete against veterans. Good idea but What happens when a person has more than __ years experience but still wants to compete, just not at a broke dog level?

The problem with the older dog is that she does not put any weight on. I will look for something with more fiber because the stools are the concern right now.

If it is an AKC trial, and the dog is less than 15 months old, and you have a pass at SH, then by all means, I would enter your dog in puppy and Derby. Go out have fun and ask questions. The only way to learn is to do. If your dog doesn't do well, then ask what it needs to do different. Good luck
