My heart goes out to the guy in Florda and I didnt want to hijack so I started this to answer a question. The dog theft thing really freaks me out whenever I go anywhere with my dogs. How often does this really happen? what can you do to help protect your dog?? I have logos on my truck so now I am t...

Re: Do you 'respect' your dogs?

There is a difference for me, between riding the definition of respect out for what it is, and being worried about being lumped in with anthropomorphism. an·thro·po·mor·phism Noun The attribution of human characteristics or behavior to a god, animal, or object. Dam glad you defined that one for me!...

Our dogs are apart of the family. We make sure that their needs are met. I show my respect for them by making sure their needs are met after a long hunt before mine are. I think I would be interested in learning more. I have a male and now a female. Cora, Dont do it! I shaved my older Munsterlander's underside and it still has not come back right. It has been 5 years. The hair came back thinner and kind of cotton feeling. I did this for her when she had pups. I have always been told, and I believe it. The coat that protects them in the winter, ...

A command is given ONE time and enforced. Sit for example. I would say "Sit". No reaction, then I lift up on the collar and squeeze the magic button in front of the dogs hips that drop the butt. Then I praise. But not to much praise that it will cause the dog to move out of position. If the dog were...

I like that Penn Hipp allows for you to test a younger dog. When I was looking to add a breeding prospect to my home, I didnt want to have the dog around for 2 years and then find out it was dysplastic, have to send it down the road and start over. That is way to much heartache and money to invest. ...

What word do you use instead of "no"? I've read using "aaaaaa" is good to use. I use "hey, hey, hey" and if they don't respond by the third "hey" they get a heavy dose of the ecollar. Funny how often I get to the second "hey" and the dog is changing its mind. By chance where you taught how to train...

It's been my experience that seldom is "not enough pressure" the problem. It's more a matter of timing and finesse. You don't need to apply sooooo much pressure that the dog vocalizes (thus opens mouth). Pinch the ear, use the same technique that you used for HOLD to get the roller in the mouth, th...

If you are going to get serious, you need to get a rod/reel combo from Thorne Bros. There is the quiver stick and the power noodle coupled with a Okuma fly fishing rod. That is what the hubby uses and so far with the sensitivity he claims he is out fishing his partners 4-1.

Plastic bumpers is what is used. Just the standard run of the mill bumper. I have never seen a real bird bumper used.

I would highly suggest that you stop using real birds and use the bumpers until after the test.

You have to be nice. To a lay person, if it has Pointer in its name, it can be confusing.

Try having a breed that is a pointing breed being called a Springer. I use to try and correct but anymore I don't care and I just let them call them whatever they want to.
