Re: in-ground electric fence
A five foot fence is a joke for a GWP. We lost a great dog to the highway 10 years ago so got an Innotek and e-fenced in about 3 1/2 of our 7 acres with it. We trained both our male GWPs (one 10 and one 3 years old) when they were pups and have never had either one cross the e-fence. Weather they ar...

Re: Need advice on 8-week old pup in airplane cabin
Chukar, I just did this last month. The details: - I flew American Airlines from Boston to Cedar Rapids, IA (via Chicago) out & back in the same day. - I picked up an 8.5 week old GSP female pup. - I used the medium Sherpa carrier and had MORE than enough room! You don't need a Large and I believe ...

Pretty Please...fuzznut wrote:Since you have time, also check Marshalls.... they often have the soft side carriers and their prices are good. Or, maybe your breeder will find one for you to fit the puppy so you won't have to guess..... (hint, hint) I'll bet they will if you ask nice!

Re: Need advice on 8-week old pup in airplane cabin
Go to Wal-Mart and buy their medium-sized soft-sided black pet carrier... Cost only about $25. I flew on a Delta commuter regional jet from Wichita to Atlanta with two eight-week old Red setter pups earlier this month and worked great. The height exceeds the limits to fit underneath the seat in fro...

Re: Need advice on 8-week old pup in airplane cabin
Here are a portion of the American Airlines Regs for a pet in the cabin: "Pet Carrier Guidelines The maximum size for cabin pet carriers is 19" long x 13" wide x 9" high. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position in the kennel. Soft-sided pet carriers are accep...

Need advice on 8-week old pup in airplane cabin
Hi; I am planning to pick up a GWP in early Sept. and fly home with him in the airplane cabin. He will be 8 weeks old when I pick him up. The airline requires that the kennel fit under the seat and that he be able to stand up in the kennel. I have been looking at a Sherpa Large Kennel which is 20 in...

Re: New from Nevada
Thank You all!! We have decided to look for a GWP (I have talked to a couple breeders). I'm sure any of the discussed breeds would meet our hunting needs but we can not justify switching from the GWPs that have served us so well. If anyone know of pups that are or will be available that they could r...

Re: New from Nevada
Thank You for your reply Helen. Looks like you have some nice dogs on your website. Several hunting buddies of mine have had Brittany’s and I have been impressed with them. They are definitely a great working dog, cover a lot of ground, and point and fetch well. The small size is nice also for trans...

New from Nevada
Howdy! I have a German Wirehaired Pointer who is 7 and has Addison's Disease. Cruiser is an excellent Chukar dog and companion but is limited in amount of exertion he can handle. We are starting to look into getting a puppy while Cruiser is still able to be a mentor to him (or her). We have had seve...
