Re: I finally picked up the Pointer pup
Thanks for the update. Wow, you sound like a proud pappa. How exciting to have pure instinct and promise display itself right off the start. Sounds like you got a winner. Will be interesting to hear how Cameo and the rest of the litter turns out.

Stop SB-250! I am not an activist. Shoot, this is the first time I've written a post like this. I'm just a guy who is worried about our sport and our dog's future. If we can't stop it in California then it will happen where you live. I know it's California. Heck, I live here and I can't stand what ...

Welcome aboard Dave!
Fantastic pics. Thanks for sharing the beautiful landscape and hunting tradition from the other side of the pond. You have some nice looking dogs. I am impressed with the size of those rabbits and the pigeons. They sure fill the pot better than our small examples.

Re: How did you get hooked on bird hunting?
My dad started taking my younger brother and I bird hunting when I was 12, some 34 years ago. My first hunt was for doves in Blythe, CA, then quail and chukar in the high desert, and pheasant in the Potterville, CA area. Blythe was hot, muddy, miserable and loaded with ticks. The woman hated it and ...

Stetson82 I am also a proud lab owner and new to GunDogsForum; we are not lowly by any means. Little by little our numbers may increase to a nice balance. IMO, pointers and retrievers are both great gun dogs. I have hunted behind both of them with equal success, though never on horse back (another p...

Re: Hello from Tehachapi, CA
Additionally, I just ordered the Retriever Fever 3 DVD set, The Wildrose Way Retriever Training DVD, some Avery and firehouse bumpers, quail scent, a Gonia whistle, and lanyard. Hope this is a decent platform to start from. Can't wait to start watching the DVD's this weekend. My lab, Stella, just sm...

Thank BigShooter
It's a prior job injury and is taking forever to jump through the WC hoops. I have one final doctor to approve it and I can get out of this misery. Glad to hear yours turned out well. Here's hoping for success with mine too.

Hello forum members: I am Jim from Tehachapi, CA. Located in the mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield. I spent 7 years in Owensboro, KY raising my kids in a safe mid-western community. Re: What gun dog breed do you currently own and why?
Yellow Lab because they a great with my grandkids, wonderful and loyal companions, fit my hunting style, I could not find any Chessies in So. Cal and because my wife loves them. I grew up with GSP's and Springers. I did not feel the GSP's would be a good dog around my grandkids. A Chessie was my fir...
