Re: small pigeon coop
I wish I would have made a big door. any body know of a design that makes it easer to catch them... if you had a small removeable avery and could push them to the avery with some kind of moveing wall .. you could use the avery for your bird box. catching them is a mess I have seen a simular idea wit...

Re: Quail hunting help?
get out early when it is cooler. hunt the area where you found the covie. don't shoot until the dog starts pointing. wild birds will not stand for a dog to crowd them tame birds will let a dog get close ... your dog will learn this with a few flushes. When he does hold a point Kill the bird for him....

I am no expert and don't have enough wild birds to try the wild bird thing.... but here is my thinkin. use pigeons. I am not a expert. I am on my second dog he is 9 mo now and has started to point wild quail and woodcock. Some one told me last month a few wild bird encounters is better than many tame Bird encounters. I beleive this to be correct. My dog was pointing tame birds at 3 mo or so but did not point wild...

Why does MO not have a upland stamp, they could use the money to rent or buy more land to manage quail....if they could be sucessfull they would draw bird hunters from around the USA makeing more money for the state and more money to spend on quail management... but it sounds like they are like AR m...
