Rail Hunting in Minnesota

I really want to do some rail hunting this year in Minnesota. Does anyone have advice? I have a jonboat but would also like to walk if that's even possible. Thanks in advance!

Thanks a bunch for the advise guys. I'm definitely going to hunt all day Friday but it sounds like I need to be pretty careful if I decide to hunt this weekend.

I have a 7-month old GSP and she will retrieve dummies all day long on land and water. However, I have shot about 10-15 pigeons over her and she will find and begin to eat the bird with very little interest in bringing it back.
