Re: Hunting or trialling after Femoral Head Osteotomy

This guy has had the FHO procedure done.
Image

He hunts and runs OK. His gait is a bit odd but he runs with a full sized big wheeled Setter type dog. The muscle mass is not as large on that leg but he runs well & big for a small dog
(French Britt).

Re: Neutering month before season?

YEP. Why neuter at all. Neutering is largely over rated. Neutering especially under 18 mos. to 2 yrs. old isn't doing the dog any favors in physical development. Biggest factor from neutering tht could affect hunting: Dog gets fat from over feeding, more so & easier after neutering. Dog possibly has...

Re: Neuter

Neutering a male dog under age 18 mos. to two years is foolishness. The dog isn't done growing till somewhere in that time period. Bones are not mature till around that age. This kennel will never neuter another male dog unless for a medical necessity (testicular cancer - prostate issues etc). I had...

I use the OnX map chip (micro sd I think) in an Alpha 100. Works nicely. In Montana hunting BMA-s I can hit the MAP Icon & it will show me the BMA boundaries as well as where I'm located within the BMA. The OnX map chips also work well in a vehicle GPS for locating / identifying public land & other ...

Re: What's the most you've spent on a dog?

I have priced Pup's (looking to buy) as high as $2000.00. Have bought Pups cheaper than that. Over the long haul what you pay for the Pup is "chicken feed" when you consider the cost of kennels, training, vet care, gear, food, & myriad of other expenses along the way. This applies whether Pup was "f...

The AKC is not interested in designating FRENCH BRIITANIES as a separate Breed. The CEB-US represents them as a Breed but it's UKC.
Conformation does matter no matter regardless what breed. A dog that isn't "put together" correctly having good conformation can have
issues down the road later in life.

Obedience in the house is one thing. Outside you need to train it all over again.
To a dog what applies in one place has to be repeated & reinforced in another place / change of location.
At 12 weeks training is fine but bear in mind this is a very young pup. Stick to "PLAY" training - make it fun.
