A little color
Here is a training video of my boy Blue River's Drivin' A Hard Bargain "Hardy" at a year old. This was the first day steady and trying planted birds, and also the first time I put him on pheasants. Never used the collar, he was a good boy. We ran 2 pup stakes, he won both, with his littermate gettin...

Re: Reloading question
Gost. As said the stuff to start is spendy, but after that you can save a bunch. If you have a hungry AR you can shoot a heck of a lot of ammo on a weekend having fun at the range. And as said work up better loads then the cheap or even not so cheap ammo off the shelf. If your going to do it get goo...

Re: Opinions on Chipping your Gun Dog
I always tattooed my dogs, I chipped one the first time a few years ago. It migrated along ways from the back of the neck to down the side of the rib cage behind the leg. That pisses me off. I tattooed the next dog and just had one chipped 2 days ago. I have Home Again chips. They now say this new o...

Re: Pointers/Flushers
Now not joking, You can do it but if we weigh fairness for the dog you would have to look at it as you may get shown up and not have to care. If your dog came on point, I could hup my dog before or after a flush since their steady to the whistle, flush wing, shot and fall. I could send my dog in to ...

Re: Pointers/Flushers
Personally, I wouldn't allow a flusher with my setters. The hunter flushed bird is a payoff for my setters that flusher poaching would not serve and the practice could kill the solidity of the point....bad juju, in other words. I guess I care too much about my dogs....I can visualize my setter's co...

I can't vote since the worst predator isn't listed. The worst in my opinion is the feral house cat or commonly called the ditch tiger. They do more damage to the bird population from song birds up to quail and pheasants. Ezzy Ding, ding, ding. I agree, skunk and coon egg grabbers I would rate behin...

Re: Best way to approach landowners to train?
I agree with the above, garbage ect. all good. We train 2-3 times a week during trial season, so we needed a good field. We actualy do release several birds every year because of misses or many we just flush and do not shoot because of a training stage, so let them know that there will be an increas...

Re: Advice for my next dog ?
Well I would think that if you are hunting rabbits you would not want a pointing dog, they kinda have to track and chase em up don't they. I like the Cocker or ESS Idea .

Re: Newbie
Near as I can find out the tri factor is from when before recognised ESS breeds. the spaniels, cockers ect. were all bred togeather. When the registry took over anything 28 lbs and over became a springer and under cockers. The collor from some of those has still found it's way to today. Mostly in sh...
