GSP at shelter in St. Joe Missouri
I was surprised to see the pet of the week in St Joe Newspress was a Gsp. Ad said 1-3 yr old and did sit on command when asked. She looked great in the pic with real shiny coat. She was all brown with white Wishbone on chest.

The fly away is just planting a scent bird for the dog to point and if the dog breaks you throw a different bird.

Taking a step back training
I got some quail to practice holding a point but it didn't go well so I rewatched my George hickox video and have decided to take a few steps back and do his fly away drill to establish a longer point without any verbal commands. Will I be alright to use clip wing birds and fire blank and retrieve a...

Does any of you mushroom hunt on Missouri Conservation Areas? I'm sure they get hit hard but the farm that I had access to for 2 years with great spots on is no longer available so trying to figure something out!

What is your favorite memory of this season?
Here is mine, My 11 mo gal had just held fantastic point on a single hen and I started walking over the hill and then lost track of her and thought she was messing around chasing that hen so I walked back to look for her and found her solid point again, I walked in and flushed 2 more hens. That was ...

Re: Anyone have road condition info 4 NW Missouri?
All the hard surfaced roads seemed like they were cleared but the gravel roads and parking lots of the CA are drifted over. I put in the hardest walking of my season but got a rooster and a quail. Phez were very spooked but the quail had to be stomped on to flush.

Hookworms and Ringworm different dogs but from same place?
Came home new years night and let dog out and saw raw bald circle on ribs, first thought was ringworm so started searching and got all the info on that. Then next day my brothers EP started having horrible bloody diarrhea and didn't want to move. Took him to the vet and tested positive for Hookworms...

I was in the Northwest area also and the 2-3 feet snow drifts really did slow us down but our dogs were walking on top of most them they were frozen so hard. Didn't move a single covey but tracked a rooster and got a solid point and dropped it.

Just wondering what everyone considers northern missouri? I live 20 miles north o KCI airport and hunt from there mostly north and northwest and 35 is as far east but have been wanting to go east and north east if there is more potential for quail.

We went to Happy Holler about 2 weeks ago and it was hot and crops were in but the cover looked great. Planning on going back soon. Don't let the Missouri Conservation ratings trick you, we just went to a "Fair" rated area and got up 2 coveys and very sure heard another group shooting at one.

Re: Dog living inside or outside a dog better
Combination of in and out. I think they shouldn't be spoiled to being inside but almost like a reward. My pup sleeps inside in a kennel, goes out at 8am and comes in at 9pm to a dog bed and bone. My pup is only 11 months and when she is asleep on her bed my almost 3 y/o niece can hug, kiss and lay o...
