Beginning to have Doubts...
Hi everyone, I acquired a 5 yr. old male GSP in November and would like him to be a hunting buddy. I have been working with him in the yard on Whoa, Here, Heel and he is doing well on a CC. I have e-collar conditioned him and he works well on that as well. My problem is that he goes BONKERS when he ...

[quote="BigShooter"]To control barking, in addition to electrical stimulation from a bark collar or e-collar you can spray then with a spray bottle filled with water, water and vinegar or water & lemon juice but that would reqiure a second set of hands while you're outside with the other dog. quote]...

I have it in my posession and used it last weekend for sporting clays. I like the way it felt. It seems to load quite smooth. It did not jam on me at all but did twice for another guy shooting it. We put 50-60 shells through it between 3 of us and I hope to do a little more with some heavier loads b...

Dog Clubs Near York, PA
Just wondering if anyone knows of any clubs near the York, PA area? I would like to get my dog out with some others and do some training but don't want to send him to a trainer. I figured a club would be a good place to start. Thanks.

Thanks all. That spray method sounds like a winner. I tried something similar last night where when he barked, I took a cup of water and splashed him...lemon juice or vinegar seems like it would be more effective. I'll let you know how it goes.

Bill, If the dog is outdoors, can you put the pooch inside, in a crate when you are gone? If the dog is inside barking and annoying others while you are gone, you're in a tough spot. Some company used to market a device that was supposedly activated by barking. When activated it reportedly put out ...

He only wears it when he is outside by himself. If I am home, it is off. At night, when he comes in, I take it off as well. I found that if it isn't at the tightness that it is at now, it doesn't work effectively. He knows when he is not wearing the collar that he can back, which is really annoying....

Re: High protein food question
If dogs utilize nutrients anything like humans do, carbs and fats will be used first and proteins will not be used as fuel until about 2 hours after the onset of exercise. This is because the blood and muscle stores of fat and carb will be depleted and the body needs something else to use.
