I definitly will continue the 30 day dose, hopefully that will clear it up. I talked to the Vet yesterday and she wants him back for Xrays at 140.00. I have poked and proded trying to get a reaction and found nothing and she did also on the initial visit. I'm going give it another week before we go ...

Just a quick follow up on the prognosses. He did test positive for lyme and is currently taking a 30 day regiment of Doxycycline. Greg, You could be on to it because he does like to chew up sticks in the yard. That could be what is going on. Wondering about that snack later on in the evening, thats surely worth a try.

Terry how old was your GSP when you lost her ? Did she show any other signs of being sick ?
I'm thinking if if he shows no other symtoms I will watch it for a week or two. My 1 year old seems healthy and still has way to much energy.
Hopefully he has the same issue as Bosco and it's not to serious.

It happens, my gsp was running threw a field a couple weeks ago and I heard the hit. It slammed into a wire fence. Not sure what the name for it is. It's just 4 inch squares but not barbed. I think if it would have been barbed wire it would have been ugly.

Without anymore facts than provided I call BS. No Vet. Name,No Breeder Name. Hard to argue facts although many (lawyers)try. If my Vet needed to put my year old dog down there better be a comprihensive report filled out on file.

Unfortunatly, In my area of va we don't have anything other than ducks and geese. Unless I take him to a game farm doves are it. Years ago the grouse population was good but anymore you can walk all day and maybe flush one.

I plan on taking mine out for the first time on Sat. But it will be a small place 4 guns total. They all know about my pup and won't get to crazy with the gun fire. I wouldn't take him to a large field first time out. I think my dog would be bouncing off the walls.

Runt Of the Litter

The last post got me wondering. My 9 month old GSP is about 48 pounds. He was the "runt" of the litter. Is that light for his age or has he caught up as he got older ? Not that it makes much difference I was just wondering what the average weight of a 9 month old GSP.

It's difficult for me to make sure I'm sending the right signals and not confusing him. We will work hard with th check cord and hopefully the light will go on. He loves to find the bird and after that he just nibbles at the feathers. Unfortunatly, here in Va we have no wild "classic" birds to hunt....

I hope that's not the case with lymes. I keep the frontline on him and so far we've done pretty good with the ticks.I think/hope this is one of those minor things that just happens with activity and slowly heals with time.

When it first started I thought he has a thorn or sticker in his foot. I have looked and looked seeing nothing obvious. I think its got to be something minor in his lower leg or pad. Puzzling stuff, If it doesn't get anyworse I'm going to give it another week before we make a trip to the Vet.

All of a sudden in the last few days my 7 month old GSP has found the need to pee on everything. We go out on a walk and he tries to mark every bush/mailbox post/trash can you name it. Is this normal stuff and will it slow down at some point ?

I agree with you on feeding with water. I'm going to switch to AM/PM. 1.5 cups each time for a total of three cups per day. As it gets cold bump it up a bit. Thanks for the comments.
