Re: Illinois ready to introduce gun ban BIG TIME!
Be careful. This may effect 99% of the shotguns and rifles made. Most guns made today have a pistol grip configuration in the stock. It's not the well defined grip that they are probably targeting but at some point they will figure out they can use the term pistol grip to get rid of everything left ...

I have tried to keep mine trimmed short April through late November. I let it grow out for our ND winter but have never noticed any problems resulting from keeping it trimmed most of the year. Seems like once they find a few spots to dig they will continue to use those spots. I have had some success in filling holes, covering them with wire mesh and a layer of dirt on top of that. They will try to dig it out but stop when they can't. Then they move on to their next spot which is the same....

The issue I have with the long range shots is that the odds of a problem increase with every yard you add. No matter how practiced you are. Even with a fast bow the difference in time of flight between a 20 yards shot and a 100 yard shot can mean missing the vitals by a foot rather than inches on an...

The hardside ones are pretty decent. I have used them on a couple of November deer hunts here in ND and been comfortable. The key to heating them is keeping the vent open for condensation to escape. I remember hearing that pheasant spring survival rate is only like 25% of those going into winter. Given that it would take a lot of habitat, probably much more than is feasible to naturally maintain numbers even close to those provided by stocking.
