1st time training help...
I have an 11 month old GSP that I got from charles rose. I have not trained her yet but also can't afford nor find a trainer close to my town in new mexico. So I was wondering is it to late to train her? I have taken her on one quail hunt and loved it. Just wondering what to do first.

weight on gsp
I got a 11 month old GSP. And I'm feeding her nutro hi performance. About 5 to 6 cups a day and still her ribs show a bit and looks gangly. Is this normal for a GSP at this age. She is full of energy and appears healthy.
What do u all think?

Re: GSP and introducing the Gun
I hear slapping two 2X4's together while she's eating is a good start.
I know your trying to help and video really showed a good way. But that doesn't make any sense while she is eating. That would freak her out I would think.

its funny!! People get really defensive including myself. At least there is alot of people with thick skin and don't get their boo boos hurt. I bet if I said that the GSP could outlast and out hunt any brittany hands down.....I wonder what that would do?? LOL It could be true though never know? :twi...

Re: Brittany
It was a just a question is why i asked. Forgive me for creating a "stir" here, i'm new to gundogs and very highly interested. I think brittanys are awesome and good looking and i've watched them hunt on TV shows. They could keep up with any bird dog on two legs anyway....maybe....... lol

Re: why did you chose your breed of dog?
I chose a White liver GSP. Reason being was I've always like the look of them. I think they are a gorgeous breed and they hunt like crazy like I do. I'm new to owning a GSP so this will be fun. I've hunted behind my dads labs before and a buddy's english pointer which got me curious in pointers. My ...

I heard that the hunting was bread out of the brittany breed for the majority. Here on this forum it does not seem true. Could someone explain?

Re: BRAND NEW GSP PUP......
Would it be a good idea to attend training classes for manners like sit, stay, etc. to help bond with her since she is going to be inside with the family most of the time while she is a puppy?
