Re: 28 ga over a 20 ga
The 28 is for experts as it is the tightest shooting smooth bore out of all of them. You can kill as far with the 28 as any 12. The 20 is better over pointing dogs and short distances and it can throw patterns much wider than the 28 with open chokes. A true 28 scaled frame gun is a delight to shoot ...

Depending on the dogs ability to not leave birds behind and most important of all if a dog is steady and never spook game the bigger the range the better. My two cents worth on the argument. One might want to consider that the dogs that are winning any type of trial are great trial dogs. So many years ago even centuries people created all the breeds everyone is arguing about for hunting. Today there is all types of trials and all types of dogs. Lets m...

Thank you
Just got to talk to some shippers ....prizes are twice what I am paying for the dog but I think the parents to the pup are the best.
Any leads there also will be great with legit companies that do not charge too much......
Route is Greece to Germany and then Seattle.

An experiment with your vets blessing with some metornidazole (flagyl) might be interesting if you notice the gas disappearing a day or two on the med....then you know you should go the full course.

I do not do trials only hunting but an old pro trainer I know told me once when he was hunting his trial dogs a lot is when you stopped winning .
Some dogs can not do best on both so is up for you to decide which is more important since this is what the dog should be doing the most of.

Just my two cents worth. The events listed to vote do not produce hunting dogs. GREAT DOGS ARE BORN that way. You can not train a dog to be what was not born to be. A bad handler can take away from a good dog but they can only have a horrible dog if they both have bad genes. The best dog trainer is a person that does not talk to their dogs in the field and uses other means to t...
