Had to do it once. On an adult the tail will have to be sutured so no bald spot.

If you are looking into some professional help not too far from you I would highly recommend Tina Carles at T&T Birddog Kennels in Christoval. She has helped me with two dogs and I have been very very pleased.

Re: Woodcock!
Do they mainly stay in river bottom areas? Would creek areas with heavy or thin woods be better? Do they hang around flood plain of areas lakes? Even though most lakes around N. TX are 3-6' below average levels. You can't go wrong in the river bottoms. I don't know how much of the migration passes ...

That sounds like a good idea. Sounds a bit like we do flaps for leg amputation stumps. Very good idea.Elkhunter wrote:I had my vet do mine, he cuts em on 45 degree back towards the puppy and then folds the tail over and sews it up. They all look great. Not one bald one.

Like Jimbo, The .223 suits the job perfectly and it is by far the most economical to shoot if your not a reloader. Like Jimbo I find myself packing the .243 more often than not for the song dogs......Mike

Thanks guys. Got her going the right direction. I've usually had them not wanting to give up the dummy or bird. Just had to break it down and start back to teaching hold seperately from the retrieval.

Dropping birds at my feet
Need some help and/or opinions. I've got a dog that drops birds at my feet on the retrieve. She does it fetching bumpers too. Any ideas on how to correct it or am I going to have to force fetch her? Her body language suggests she is being submissive by dropping it at my feet. Whatcha think?

Re: Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic
I have an 1100 Sporting. I shoot it well and it behaves well. I usually clean it after every round. Never a hiccup. The 1100 is a reliable gun, you just have to clean it. It's not a hard gun to clean. But you have to learn how to tear the gun all the way down.

Thanks for responding, I also use the sd 2525 collar with no problems. I just think their beepers are weak. Pisses me off when you pay someone 80$ a piece and they don't even make one hunting season. I see your from Kinder. I gave a young man from Kinder a puppy last year. Cant remember his name.

We have a good number of coyotes around. I actually had to use the e-collar to break my dogs from chasing them. I've never had one attack any of my gsp sized dogs. I have had neighbors lose many lap dogs and cats to them. Usually all that's left is the spine. I also had a neighbor lose a pit bull pu...
