I have a Braque d'Auvergne because I wanted a short haired dog that was much smarter and way better looking than a Vizsla. Good luck with that! This is what I like. Just kidding. Get to work with a Braque this Spring. It will be a first. Enzo.jpg

I'd be interested in how long the collar lasts on a charge in GPS only mode and did they put a 'power save' mode in it like the later garmins where it signals less often. The update rate can be changed from 2 sec,6 sec,10 sec,30 sec, and 120 sec. Obviously the battery will last loger on the 120 sec...

I train both Vizslas and GSP and my training methods do not change per breed, but per dog as needed. Vizslas are known to be softer dogs than GSPs and that is true for the most part. GSPs are known to be more stubborn and tougher dogs, somewhat true but not the rule. The problems I have witnessed ar...

First off, a trainer would fix the problem. Secondly I will not disagree with all the boredom thoughts. Maybe, maybe not. What I have found is, sometimes dogs dig for a reason. If you let the dog dig he may find what he smells down there. Usually it is a rotting root or an old bone. Some dogs are ki...

One of the most important things as a Trainer is consistency. We must be consistent with our commands and corrections. With that said, I find I get a better recall if I command "Come". I teach the dogs that "COME" means I want to touch you. Every time I give the command I touch and praise the dog wh...

Citron, you have been given some very solid advice in favor of the Ecollar. One thing nobody has truly touched on is the safety of your dog. What I have found to work best is a good boot, Irish setters, Meindls, LL Bean, and others with Goretex, NO insulation. Treat the boots with Obenaufs and at the end of the day use a boot drier. Impact energy per pellet will be exactly the same. Total impact energy is determined by the total of all pellet strikes which of course will be a function of pellet density at the target. If I shoot a payload of 4`s at 1100fps out of a .410 and the same 4`s at 1100fps out of a 12 ga. is the impact energy the same at lets say 30 yds?
Thanks

It actually sounds like your dog is doing pretty well. Running birds are a hard case for some dogs until they learn to figure it out. I would move on and find another breeder. But before you do that, check in on that pup you returned and see how it is doing at the breeders. If he is all better, your environment would be suspect. If the pup is still suffering, well environment is less suspect. Tons of good GSP breeders in Wisconsin.
