Re: #2, 3" 20 gauge Steel

Kent makes a #2 3" 20 gauge load thats around 1500fps that should do what you want them to. Alot of guys I know just use there duck loads and crush the Pheasants

Stoeger Coach 20 gauge????

Anybody ever use one for upland hunting? Im thinking of getting a 20 gauge with fixed IC and Mod. chokes. ITs got the standard 20" barrels, just looking to get a 20 bore to hunt close quarter quail. Thanks

Re: Motivational Training for the Field

I have the book and it is well worth the money. Gives you alot of insight that most training programs dont even consider. Goes step by step on ways to train a dog not using any force at all. Obviosly it has worked she has trained several champion Goldens. I highly reccomend it.

Re: Lab eating doves

I would put away the doves and make sure the dog has Basic Ob. down and has mastered retrieving and delivering hand. So many try and dive right into live/frozen birds and its not always good for a dog. Master the bumpers, then slowly transition to wing attached dummies, then frozen birds, thawed, et...

Re: Is this a normal thing!!!Need some help!

Yes I have he is starting to reach for it. He did pretty good tonight we started the walking part of the Hold and he did pretty good. I put quite a bit of pressure on his ear with the pinch and by the end of the session he started to hold it while moving with only a little bit of chewing it.

Re: Is this a normal thing!!!Need some help!

Thanks again for all the advice guys. One thing that I want to clear up is the dog will hold but just not how I feel a dog should before moving on. We are past the chin hold process and he will hold the bumper for a few seconds up to half a minute. THe hold is not tight, I rap under the chin on the ...

Help with Hold Command!!!!

Im working my 8 month old lab trying to get him to hold. I know he is still young but he shows all the characteristics of a dog that is ready to be force fetched. He has been introduced to birds, shot over, water etc. etc. Basic Ob. is very sound. The problem is on retireves he is very sloppy with t...

Re: 9moth ess running away

This is what I did with my lab. Who is similiar age. I put him on a 20ft check cord and let him away from me. Give a jerk on the cord, I said the command "HERE" and gave him a treat, piece of string cheese when he came. I made sure he was hungry and not feed before I worked with him. I did this for ...
