Tough question, I passed up an entire covey I couldn't get to flush. Upon returning an hour later two guys and a lady in a brown excursion with a Gsp mowed the same covey down on the ground as I watched. I try not to take more than two birds out of any covey in a day no matter what. We're lucky this...

Water is scarce here so we put a mojo dove at the waters edge and few more on the fence lines. Plenty of birds always so the challenge is getting one per shot. As well as working on the type of shots we need improvement on. Way cheaper to practice with dove loads than duck loads.

Living in a dry climate like Arizona you're chances of the pup having heartworm are lower. If you're trying to save money use the doc Roy's roundworm remover from Walmart 5cc per 10 lbs. 24% game bird crumbles on adults and 28% on the youngster's. The deaths within two week's are pretty likely caused by coccidiosis. Albon in their water will cure this. Keeping them out of where chickens or pigeons are or were housed will help stop transmission of it too

There are so many variations being bred its really hard to give a direct answer. Given a choice you're much better off training with bobwhites. Think of a courtunix more as a chicken than a gamebird. There are some like the Tibetan that are a bit more like a bobwhite if raised properly. I've never t...

I'd advise checking the eggs that didn't hatch to see what development they had if any. You may not have had good fertile eggs to begin with. Also see what the time span was between the start of incubation and the mass hatch. This will help you fine tune your temperature. Goal is to have them hatch ...

I always wondered about that chick starter. Never could see them eating that stuff so I grind all mine in a coffee grinder. If you leave the chicks in the incubator 24hrs, you must take out the turner? I stop turning them 48 hours before their due date and take out anything they may get caught under.
