intervene (if you can) BEFORE the growls escalate to fighting. You'll have to be more diligent about this - keeping a good eye on them and coming down strong if they start to get out of hand. The key is to keep a good eye on them. This is the key around our house. Any sign of posturing or growling ...

You needed to at least pepper her vehicle with lead shot. Might deter her from coming back. I lock my vehicle when I head into the field to train, just for those reasons.

Re: DK dogs question
I have one of each and can attest that while they have slight differences in hunting style they both will hunt with intensity. My DK is more of a hound type hunter with head to the ground tracking while my GSP is more of a head high scenting the air/wind type of hunter. I love hunting behind both. I...

Nice pics. Nice dogs, that GSP looks cold!
I had a GSPxLab prior to getting my GSP's. That was one sweet dog. Pointed birds if they were holding and flushed them is they were running. When she would point I would walk up and tell her, "Go get it" and she would dive in and flush the bird.

No, not scratch birds. The owners buddies get those all cleaned up along with the hawks and coyotes. These were birds I released with my membership. Put out 20 and got 16 in the bag. We saw them all just needed some time to warm up the shooting eye. Where in Wisconsin are you Mike50? We had a couple...

Took the dogs out to shoot some pheasants with some buddies. (the humans were camera shy) Pic of dog and me at the end of the hunt. Got a little warm out and dogs are sick today, vomitting all day. Hope it was just the heat, did not see them get into anything. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308...

This is what gets me and the dogs around, 2005 Tundra Double Cab. Used for daily commutes and hunting, run it into the ground and then buy something else. I would love to have a unit like Chukar12 but first must learn to ride a horse. It's on my bucket list. I think it would be neat to hunt off hors...

I just caught this forum today. I purchased a pair of the I-Kams this summer. See link below for a sample video. The video quality if pretty good and the sound also. One quirky thing is that they only stay on standby for 30 seconds and then shutoff so you have to turn them on again unless you are vi...

I have always chipped any dogs that I have. I could be the last hope of getting them back and it is not expensive.
My DK is tatooed and I still chipped her. The tatoo is very hard to read.

Good Luck with that and start early. Both of my dogs think the lure is something that they should retrieve and go nuts as I keep throwing it out and reeling it back in. They will jump in and try to retrieve if not held back. It is insane.
Re: Racoon's
I have not run into coons yet, but my dogs will point just about anything living at least when in the yard. Out hunting it seems that they know we are after flying things. One morning they were both on point and I had to go outside to get them, they were pointing a mouse trapped in the basement wind...

WOW! 5:40 would be heaven. Mine are up at 4:00am everyday. But I have to get up at that time to get to work so they just got used to the schedule. If I am lucky some weekends, especially after hunting they might sleep in till 6:00am. Doesn't really bother me, I have gotten used to the time table.

How did you get the lightning bolt effect. I am guessing you painted the stock blue and then taped off the lightning and then went back over the blue paint with black paint? Or was there some sort of template you used? I did the stock and then sent it out to have painted. No idea how he did it. Usu...

I live in the city with less than 1/3 acre of yard. I mix it up depending on the weather. In winter I mix hunting on game farms with frisbee at the local park. Biking, I have a harness that holds them next to the bike but they cannot get tangled, they both love this, it is more their pace than just ...

Don't know where you are but you could try Saracen Kennels in Menomonee Fall, WI. I have hunted with their dogs. Very nice.
The site is for their Irish Water Spaniels but they breed the English Cockers also.

Hunted on a game preserve today. Got to work both dogs individually and then tried them together. They work nice together until a bird is shot. No honor! Something to work on this spring and summer in training.

We have a white/liver GSP and a roan GSP and it seems the white sheds more but I think it is just because it shows up more. Regular bathing and brushing keep it tolerable. I think once you fall in love with whatever breed you decide the shedding issue becomes minimal and tolerable. After all nobody i...

I use a mix of both. I tackle what I think that I have time and skills for. I cannot afford to leave a dog at the trainer for the amount of time it takes to completely train them. Plus my dogs are house pets and my wife doesn't like them gone too long. Of course she also thinks that they don't need ...

I use the boomerang tags also, nice product. I have my dogs names on the tags, never thought about someone actually keeping them. Figured if they were found and called by name they would feel better. I do have both dogs micro chipped though.

I opted to buy the Walky Dog - http://www.thedogoutdoors.com/ as it was cheaper and not quite as bulky as the model you show. Any of them will work there are several others out there. I use it to run both of my GSP's, have not tried both at one time yet, but I will. It is great for covering a lot of...

I had a TT with my other dog and when I got my GSP I switched to a Dogtra because I like the built in beeper and the ability to control it from the transmitter and also use it as a locator. However I do not like the rheostat control, it moves to easy on its own and you cannot get a feel for where yo...

What is the best way to condition their feet?
Will pads regenerate? I just acquired a 4 year old DK and her pads are smooth as can be so she slides on our deck and tile floors, or wood steps. My other GSP has pads that have some roughness to them so traction is not an issue?
