Johnny Houses

For those of you that johnny house some birds what age do you normally put them in there. I think we are gonna try some younger birds this year around 4-6 weeks. I think we'll have to wait a little later for the temps to come up though. Usually 8-10 weeks is when we put them in. Younger birds are ch...

It might help eliminate this type of post on an otherwise good topic. Who knows.

Re: Moderators............

I think that if you developed a dedicated Field Trial area to duscuss all aspects of trialing that it may help to curve the pissing matches that often occur whenever trialing gets talked about on this board. This is a gundog board, I get that but there is a small faction of us that like to trial tha...

Moderators............

I know this is a gundog site but there are more then a few folks here who trial their gundogs. Is there any way we can have a field trial forum added here where we can talk trialing without having to do it in the general forum. I think there are some folks here who have a lot to offer in the way of ...

Re: How old for e-collar?

I think a lot of folks use a collar as a crutch because they didn't do sufficient yard work with the dog when it needed to be done.

[quote="Stoneface"]House dogs and dogs that are able to build a closer relationship are ten times easier to train than kennel dogs. [quote] What evidence do you have of this Rowdy. Trainability is born into a dog. Its not nurtured by bringing them in the house and it's not hindered by keeping them i...

Re: Clicker training retrieve.

Rowdy I guess my first thought is why fool with a soft dog? There are so many other nice dogs in the world that you really don't have to fool with one that has a major hole in it like that one. Not that any dog is bullet proof but that is a pretty major challenge to deal with right up front.

Does your dog need a collar. We've broke dogs to wing and shot without ever putting a collar on them.

I feed Diamond Extreme Athlete, 32% pro 25% fat. No corn, no wheat, no soy. Feed less clean up less. Coats shine like a mirror with lots of stamina. A little pricey but pays off in the long run. We feed the same thing - Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete. Where we get it, it's only a couple dollars m...

don't mean to venture from the OP but I am a big guy and am looking to pick up some gear before the season starts up. I need to find a pair of chaps. Everything I have seen on line so far has all the frillies on it. I just want a plain pair of full length western chaps. Didn't want to start a new t...

Re: Too much dog?

This has been an interesting discussion. I can't speak for anyone elses dogs but we have dogs here that you wouldn't dare turn loose in a 3 acre patch. Not because they aren't properly trained but because they are trained to do something else. There are dogs in the world that are meant to run big an...

Re: Tri Tronic Transmitter

Collar Clinic is a great place to get replacement transmitters. www.collarclinic.com Last time we had one replaced I want to say it was $150. Call them to find out though. You send in your collar, they will program the new transmitter to the collar. Good as new. Unfortunately, the don't have a buy 3...
