dog door
Hoping I could get some input on which is the best value dog door. I need 4 for the kennel I'm starting on next week. I have 40-50lb GSP's. Hard to tell what kind of quality you're getting by looking at pics on the internet.
Thanks,
Brent

Re: Tapeworm?
No, I kick myself for not taking a pic with my phone. I was spreading seed with a 4-wheeler and excersising the dogs at the same time. They were hot and I was trying to keep them watered and finish spreading and when I saw that I was kinda grossed out and trying to think of what it could be but didn...

Re: Tapeworm?
Had to be what it was...it was very similar looking to mucus but to be that long without breaking off it has to be a worm.

Tapeworm?
I purchased a 1-1/2 year old female GSP about 4 weeks ago. She was vet checked the day before I picked her up. I have the records for her and I know they did a fecal that was negative. Last week, I saw what seemed to be a 2" long strand of mucus hanging from her rear end. It was hard to tell exactly...

Re: Lost/stolen Weimaraner
I highly reccomend calling your local radio staion and asking them to give a description of the dog and that it's missing and offer a reward. Most radio stations will do this no problem. I know we have 3 local staions here that do it all the time for people and it works better than anything else. I ...

Re: Muscle cramping every year.
You say he does this once a year, first day of the hunt, "up" in SD. Well, obviously you are traveling to this hunt. Do you kennel the dog, how long, how often do you let him out? When you get to your destination, do you leave your dog in the box? Maybe you should tie him out. It could be that he do...

Re: Places to Go in Kansas ?
The atlas is on the website and you can print it out but you can also get a book from Wal-mart. We always stop at Wal-mart to get our tags, supplies, and what not on the way and they always have an atlas. They are real nice to have in the truck with you. The roads aren't marked on there, that's the ...

Re: Places to Go in Kansas ?
I've been going out south and west of Hays the past three seasons. The first year it was me, my cousin, and a GSP that was loaned to us by a guy that said, "take him, let me know how he does", and we were all green. Not a one of us had ever seen a wild pheasant before then. Well, my cousin and I wal...

Re: CRP expectations?
CRP is great for pheasants but not so good for quail. It is too thick for the quail to move around in. I would put in something else around the wooded areas you were talking about like ragweed (I know, planting a weed seems crazy) if you really want to help the quail. Ragweed is excellent for quail ...

Re: Bird hunting, dove retreiving
I was in the same boat last September. I had a 9 mo old pup that had been on plenty of planted birds and was retreiveing nicely but I was a little worried about confusing her on doves. Well I took her anyway and she showed no interest whatsoever and this was a pup with all the bird drive you could e...

Re: Need Kennel Ideas
Very nice Birddog...I was wondering how your drainage was set up on that new pen. Are you just spraying to one side? That is what I've done so far but I'm trying to do a gutter/drain of some sort this time. Yeah...I keep telling myself to build it bigger but I've all ready spent so much on the new h...

Re: Need Kennel Ideas
Cool...nice kennel Wyndancer. I live in northern Louisiana where our winters are mild. It rarely gets below freezing...only at night for a few weeks then its over. I'm not too worried about freeze ups or heating the pad...as long as they have a warm hole to get into they'll be fine. I may run a heat...

Re: Need Kennel Ideas
That looks nice. I wonder how it drains? Seems like it must have a drain since it is closed on on 3 sides.
Thanks for the info.

Need Kennel Ideas
Hello everyone, I am in the process of building a house and I'm at the point where I need to start on a kennel. I was hoping I could get some ideas and pics of some of your kennels. My wife would prefer that I put in some type of septic or treatment tank to cut down on the smell. I've never done tha...

Re: Need live birds for training
Looks like Coveyrise has you covered but I thought I would add that I recently had trouble finding birds and drove a long way to get some. Then I had to go to the feed store to get food for them. I asked the owner of the store who else was buying food and he gave me 3-4 names and numbers of people n...

Re: How much prey drive should you see how soon??
I'm by far no expert. I'm training my second GSP pup now and kind of had the some wories for a while but they are gone now. The first pup I trained (if you could say trained, she was a natural) was so full of drive she was about to explode from day one. The first time she saw live birds when I broug...

Re: Lots of questions
I live in northern Louisiana. When I moved here 12 years ago there were a lot of pine plantations, now there are a lot more. I'm originally from Missouri and when I moved here it was hard to get used to all the pine trees. When you drive down the road its like being in a tunnel because you can't see...

Re: Need Help Finding Birds
I will take pigeons or whatever I can get at this point. I don't know of a source for them around here either. Quail have been easier to find. I just need to get some birds under this pups nose and we don't have wild birds around here. This time last year I had no problem getting adult bob whites bu...

Need Help Finding Birds
Hello Everyone, I've been visiting this site for a while and have read many threads but this is my first time to post. I started hunting pheasant and quail in KS about 4 years ago when I was 26. I am currently training my second GSP pup (first one turned out great but my uncle swears its beginner's ...
