Re: UPLAND E-COLLARS which one ?
I used the DT 1850 H2O this season - very happy so far. I actually muffled the beeper with some duck tape. Can fine tune decibel level by poking holes in the tape. There is always a fix with duck tape. If women can't find you handsome, make sure they find you handy - something like that from "Red Gr...

I cut out a used hog panel, just zip tied it to the back of the seat. No rattles. Panel hadn't been used for 30yrs so no smell

Re: Upland pants
I have a couple of phez hunts so far this year with LL Beans gortex upland. Love them so far. Leave next week for two camps and 9 days of hunting in SD, we'll see how they hold up but see no reason why they wouldn't.

Wems, what boots do you use? My springer gets a thorn or two now and again. I've thought about boots. Did it take long for them to get used to them?

Re: Flusher Question
My 5yr old springer had the same issue, he is now collar conditioned and with a beep of the collar he stops and starts back to me. I haven't had to correct him so far. He is on the soft side so the beep is all that is needed.

Re: Broken tooth
This happened to me ESS just a couple of weeks ago. Lower left canine, broke at an angle so half still ok. My vet instead of using a cap, ground down the sharp edge, pushed the pulp down and filled in with some kind of dental hardening agent. He said a metal cap may have worked but he has had good l...

I pheasant hunt around the Isabel (NE) and Faulkton (N central) part of SD each year. There is more public ground around the Isabel area than you can imagine. You can stay at "The Bunkhouse" in Isabel. Individual rooms, couple of cabins and a house next to the motel for larger groups. Not sure about...

When you look at the rubber lower and leather upper, take a look at the Maine hunting boot sold by LL Bean. I just got a pair a couple of weeks ago and haven't been wet yet but they are promising and are made in Maine. Have different styles including gortex. Not that pricey (under $200)

Re: Dog house heating units
I have a HH heater and it works great. The kennel is built into the back of the garage but when the temp gets down to 20 or below i turn it on. The dog doesn't bother it and it does heat pretty well. The main unit is spaced out from the wall it is screwed to, mainly for the thermostat guage (or what...

I have 1 ESS. He is 4, i got him when he was 2. I am more of the started/finished dog mindset. I am currently debating if i need another ESS or lab. Mainly for my current dog to have a buddy during the day when he is bored in the backyard. He is also jealous of me petting another dog. I have babysat...

Re: beeper on ecollar wont scare the birds?!
I have used a bell the past two years in NE and SD. I think the bird numbers in SD are enough that even though the bell may scare them up earlier, there is a dumber phez in the field somewhere. In NE with the low bird numbers i need all the advantage i can get. I have decided to get a gps for next y...

Re: Failure to Retrieve
If you do go the force fetch route, you may want someone else do it. Since there is some pain associated to the training the dog might not look at you the same way if you do it yourself. I have heard of trainers swapping dogs so they don't force fetch their own.

I used to use a remington spr 453 but won a stoeger 2000 at a shriners raffle and used my first trip to a couple of weeks ago and loved it. mainly due to it was about half the weight of the remington (or at least it seemed like it)

Re: Hound Heater - New Dog House Furnace
I bought one before last winter. I have an outside concrete kennel that buts up against the back of the garage with an enclosed section for the dog. The heater did a good job of keeping warm in one of the worst winters in memory here in Nebraska. The dog (ESS) never tried to chew on it. It was busy ...
