Re: Pro Plan vs. Taste of the Wild

Russnhunter, How much does your Brittney weigh? When you fed the "Natural" food what brand was it? How much were you feeding. Over feeding most foods will cause diarrhea in most dogs. Hi Mike, Hunter weighs 44 pounds. I do not remember the brand of natural food that I had tried. I had cut it in wit...

Re: Back from Kansas

Hi, I think some of my old school thoughts may need some improving. Logic dictates "in my opinion" that when the birds are flushing farther out, tighten up but that may not always be the case....have to agree with you and thanks for the humor...will give the improved cylinder a try.. Thanks again. :...

Re: Pro Plan vs. Taste of the Wild

I have a 2 year old Brittany, and I feed him about 2-1/2 cups of purina pro-plan select (the one with the brittany on the bag). There is less fillers in it and it seems to keep him going strong. Other foods I would need to feed between 3 and 4 cups a day. My vet said to check the fillers and also re...

Re: Back from Kansas

Hi guys, Thanks for the info. I am guessing it was mainly operator error. 2 of the 3 birds were going away and my partner thought I was shooting low. When I skinned out the one I had hit high on the back of the bird. The other one was a broadside, broke it's wing. I generally shoot 4's with no issue...

Re: Back from Kansas

Hi, I did a couple hunting trips in Colorado to the Holyoke area...been going there for about 20+ years. The weather was nice but I think this hampered the pheasants.....they were not where they usually would be....took a couple days to re-group and get results. Saw a boatload of hens...1 flush, 30 ...

Re: What type of shotgun are you using for your bird hunts?

I use a Stoeger 20 ga over/under for dove #7's, same gun with 4's for chukar I use either a Mossberg 12 ga semi-auto (my lucky gun), a Mossberg 835 ulta-mag or my spanish made side by side for grouse and pheasant with 4's and 6's. I also use the 835 for duck with 3-1/2's for duck. I hunt in Colorado...

Re: Think Like a Dog?

How funny,
Hunter (My Brittany) does the same thing.
I find that he talks a lot and I just had to learn to listen.
Best dog I ever had.

introduce myself

The Pheasant hunting was a bit different this year as the weather did not do us any favors. Hoping to get in one more hunt before the end of the season. I ...
