Re: What part of Colorado
Stay away from Boulder, it is filled with granola crunching hippies that will probably try to arrest you for using an E collar. The denver area is probably best because you are only few hours away from good phesant hunting out east, and a few hours from good fly fishing and big game hunting in the m...

Re: SHE LET MY PIGEONS GO!!!
I train on public land here in Colorado, and I have gotten some really bad looks while training with pigions. I try to train early before all of the granolas wake up. I can definatly see something like this happening around here. Maybe I should keep my cage hidden.

Good vet neerColorado Springs
Can anyone recomend a good vet near Colorado Springs. I would like to find someone who understands the needs bird dogs, and maybe someone that owns and hunts bird dogs themselves. There are alot of vets in this area but most of them are a bunch of granola crunching hippies. I need someone that will ...
Re: Whoa Post
The definition of a conditioned response : The dog will react perfectly to a command or just a cue under all circumstances and any distractions. Expect 5000 repetitions!!!!!!!!!! Well at 20 repetitions per session and two sessions a week, I should have my pup conditioned on the whoa post in about 5...
Re: Whoa Post
Wow, thanks for the fast response, I have been using the whoa post re duex articles as my guide. Today I took Deets out and did a short training session, when I take him 180 degree across the whoa post he is tight up to about the post. According to Rick when he is tight all the way across he is read...
Whoa Post
Just started my 1 yr old EP on the whoa post. Im using the Rick Smith method with the rope around the flank. My pup pitched one fit the first time he was stimulated. After that he will not move while on the whoa post. I started releasing him and heeling him 180 degrees and when he hits the stimulati...

Where is the Silent Command System Voulme II??
I have all of the available Hunt Smith DVD's. However on my silent command video there is an intermediate volume II shown, but I cannot find that it is available. It seems like alot has been left out of the foundation video, (like using the e- collar for enforcing the whoa command). Does any one kno...

Re: diamond food
I have been feeding my 1 year old EP diamond HI Energy for about a month. Seems good so far. First stool of the day is pretty firm, the rest are kinda soft but I think that is just my dog. It has always been that way. The price of this stuff is great, I pay about $30 for a 50lb bag, which is pretty ...

Re: What type of shotgun are you using for your bird hunts?
Lot of folks using semi-autos!!!.....how often do you pull the trigger 3 times and how often are birds falling on the third shot? I shoot a pump and have shot alot of birds on the third shot, but they are never the same bird I shot at with the first two shots. Usually when this happens I will flush...

Re: What type of shotgun are you using for your bird hunts?
As of this year I am using a Browning BPS upland special 16GA. I think this is the best pump gun I have ever shot and this is why. - Tang Saftey; which is were every saftey should be, and it is ambidextrous - Magazine release; makes unloading easy and safe - Bottom eject; also an ambidextrous featur...

Re: Tritronics Stimulation Level
Thanks for the feed back. I talked with TT and they pretty much said that i should have spent a couple hundred dollars more and got a better collar with more levels. I though $320 should have been enough. Im getting along better with the collar now. My dog has become a little more tollerant to the s...

Tritronics Stimulation Level
I just purchased a TT classic 70. My 10 month old pointer dog shows no response on level one, but jumps straight in the air at level 2. When I test the intensisty with my hand the jump form level 1-2 is pretty substantial. I can barley feel level 1 and level two shocks me pretty hard (makes me drop ...

Re: Hunting Boot Battle
The guys that buy $300 boots may balk at this post, but I like to use desert combat boots. These boots are lightweight, comfortable, and very rugged. My feet are perpetually hot so I use the hot weather boots that have vents on them. I also have a pair of insulated gortex combat boots I wear in the ...

Re: Is 5 1/2 months old to early to nueter a dog?
I have a 8 month old male pointer and after reading this I think I am going to wait. I don't know know much about the science behind it, but I do know that there is a reason steers look alot like cows, and bulls look like bulls.

Pigeons in Colorado
I live in Colorado Springs, I have been catching pigions off a roost in some old steel tanks about 20 min from my house, but I would like to find an easier way. I can't have a coop where I live so I was wondering if any one knows where I can get pigeons in the Colorado Springs area. I have a trap if...
