Re: Irish setter?
Red setters and AKc setters were the same thing from aprox 1950-1976, when the AKC parent club pulled reciprocity on registration, so I would bet you that 99% of the "FIELD BRED" AKC dogs go back to Red setter stock. As I recall some dogs whelped in 1976 and not registered till after reciprosity wa...

Re: Irish setter?
Irish Setters are, and have always been my breed of choice. Though I have spent all my years showing them, I am really just starting in the field world. As with most sporting breeds, the Irish Setter is a happy go lucky dog who aims to please. The majority of people on here are correct, it is more d...

Re: Would you feed horsemeat?
I've watched the horse aucions on and off for some time now, primarily enumclaw. Exracers, race training wash outs, critically injured race horses, and nonproductive broodmares tend to be a rather significant portion of the market. While that might not be the case for all horse auctions, those combi...

Kwik, Let's say you was runnin' a dog and I was judging. Things are going fine, but I can tell you don't have your dog...and I see the dog is making a backcast or is going sideways. Would you like me to point the dog out? Or let the dog keep going back/sideways? Or let's say you had a back and then...

Talking to handler while running in Trial Brace?
I want to start this thread out by stating I am a complete novice when it comes to trials at this point. I have run in 3 or 4 now (mix of AKC and AF), and each time, I am getting a better and better understanding of how the game is played, and have begun to make my own opinion about what I like to s...

In the front you can see one of my setters in a field cut, and the back is one of my setters in almost full coat. I spend typically 45mins to an hour and half on her after most trips out. For the average owner, there is no reason not to keep them short.
