Scary
I was looking at the Pheasant count in South Dakota and it is down from 4.19 to 1.52. Seems like a very drastic drop to me and it is even more concerning because the report from the DNR said in other words not to worry. Numbers don't lie hoping it is not a replay of what has happened here in Illinoi...

Eating Grass
Well I went hunting Sun and noticed my dog was eating grass nothing unusual because he does it often with no problems. Today he had a hard time going to the bathroom I had to help him get it out. While helping it looked like string but I noticed it was grass but it was thick like hay. Should I take ...

Your pup will be alright right it is just a baby. Focus on recall and manners and more recall let it have fun this hunting season and you will see when the light comes on. That is the best feeling when you see the pup mature in front of your eyes.

These dogs have heart
We went hunting yesterday and I always knew that gundogs are tough but I really got to thinking about what these dogs go through. Is it to please the owner or is it because they love to find birds? I often feel bad for my dog because of the punishment that he goes through, my dog sometimes is in obv...

Dog licking himself raw
Any suggestions or remedies for this would be greatly appreciated. My dog has licked himself raw on his feet vet said it could be from boredom or allergens in the grass. Vet just told me to watch for infection, and to wipe feet regularly after he goes out. My dogs feet are not getting infected and I...

My Llewellin made me look like I knew what I was doing with the training. I have never owned a gundog before so I trained my yr old Llew the basics and he did the rest. I love my Llew and I am hooked on hunting with a dog. My Llew is also a great companion, in my opinion a Llew can hunt anything.

I started my pup out with pen raised birds but after a great season with a lot of wild bird encounters should I go back to pen raised birds to tune up during the offseason? Or what do you more experienced choose to do to keep the dogs tuned up and on point during the offseason?
