Very late to the party on this thread, but I just found it and read over it. I'll add my experience with DE wet shaving for the past 4 years or so... 1) I use Feather blades. I tried several, but the Feathers just worked the best for me. For my dad, they're a little too sharp. I think he's using the...

Maybe people are going beyond this, but I thought breeders evaluated the dog itself (temperament, trainability, physique) to determine whether or not to breed it... and if it has been bred before then also evaluate the offspring. Are people really doing genetic testing (other than for health) to det...

You could probably offload an older but working collar in our B/S/T forum for more than the 15% discount is worth. Got to find a buyer and ship it, though, so that could be a hassle. I think what Ezzy was eluding to is the fact that judging a dog to figure out what is "best" or "better" will take so many variables that every person will have a different viewpoint. There's just no quantifiable standard that everyone will agree to use as a measuring stick. As an example, I believe...

When one of my dogs is out in her kennel and won't stop barking, I think about using a bark collar or the de-barking surgery. However, this is usually sometime around 1:00 a.m. and I'm not thinking very rationally. On the rare occasion that happens, I simply go out to my kennels and shut the in/out ...

All of the above is sound. Also, consider whether or not the dog has been stressed lately, or has been subject to very low humidity levels. Watering down/bathing a dog is only a quick fix for constant dandruff - it won't cure the problem, just treat the symptoms.

It's hard with a new puppy to just go and pick one feed. I know when I had to do that 6 years ago it seemed like a daunting task. What I would suggest is to continue feeding what your pup's breeder fed so long as it's available to you and within your budget. Then, as your pup grows, you can evaluate...

There are more factors that affect a dog's heat tolerance than just coat color. You can't look at two dogs, one black and one white, and predict with certainty that on a warm hunting day the white dog will out-hunt the black dog. It's a factor, it's not the only factor. That's a fact.
