Re: Style Question... For Everyone

A dog's style is in the eye of the beholder...so what I'm asking for is some picks of what you all consider style. I will start with two variations, one low and one high. http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af161/rrawlings0614/1274637203-1.jpg http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af161/rrawlings0614...

Re: Supplements

Agree fish oils are the way to go. Also would note that better dog foods have fish oils already in them, as well as a longish list of other things that in various ways will help coat. You could also simply feed raw diet for about 60 days. Raw is expensive and a pain to feed, but it will glow up a co...

Re: Grain-free Foods

Misc comments: Palatability and nutritional quality are two different things. There are some very fine foods in the market that are not particularly palatable. Bottom line is, a working dog needs to eat. And hunting dogs out working in the field MUST eat. If the dog doesn't eat it, it doesn't matter...

I switched to black/gold just for that reason and still a reasonable price. My dogs pardon the language, Crap once a day and thats it on black gold. How muc...

Re: Grain-free Foods

Sounds like you've been reading dogfoodanalysis.com. Some of things they harp on are either misguided or blown out of context. For example......your comments about "splitting," about the 7th & 8th ingredients being corn or corn derivatives as being something that understates the amount of corn in th...

Re: Putting on some weight

1. Any cowboy will tell you: the first thing to do to a skinny animal is to worm it. It worms aren't the problem, worming won't hurt. If they are, worming will help. 2. Completely agree that grain free diet could be part of the problem. Intuitive common sense reinforced by good marketing has propaga...

Re: Local feed store - three feeds

I work in the petfood industry. Also breed, hunt, guide a string of dogs. Random thoughts: Blackwood or PMI Exclusive would be my pick of the foods recommended in the list given in first post. Blackwood reads better, but the protein/fat ratio in the 7000 is quirky. Typically, one would want to see a...
