We used to ask people to use our Prefix on names of dogs we bred. Had a couple that did not an Championed. Then we started writing it in on papers. In my book, anyone that does this knowingly WILL NEVER get another dog here. I know of a big breeder up north that the lady had bred to my male, wrote h...

Hard to say, not knowing the dogs or trainers. If a dog is smelling a bird and working in on it, or is a dog honestly pointing when he is hitting scent. I know I can work 10 dogs in a row, and see most dogs hit a point in the same general area. Then see a dog point 2 to 3 times further out, consista...

I have the old Inno 200 2 dog collar. I love it. The only problem I have with them is they are not strong enough for the toughest of dogs, but they are in the 2% range. For them I have a TT Upland collar. For the most part I will stick with what I got. I know Inno is coming out with improvements fro...

When Innotek went digitol is when we (as dealers) dropped them, along with Rick Smith! I still use the old 200 unit and I might add it can be bought at Lion Country on closeout for 199. 2-dog for 299. I like that unit, as the levels are at my fingertips. I also like the camera battery, it runs down ...

My dog Sally (on Grants T-shirt), pointed one while we were hunting in N.Da. in Sept. I pulled her away when I saw what it was, her point did not look like a bird point, as the hair was standing on her back. I looked in the bush and could not believe how big it was (the Porky) I tried to tell a coup...

Sounds good. Running the upper levels on Sat is always easier because you usually don`t have the covey situation. I may try the spring test with a couple of dogs. We were at Centertown for a 3-day Thanksgiving trial. Tough Region to compete in, I took a 1st with Logan and Rick took a 3rd with Fritz....

I have been out of town an did not see this thread. I always train yung birds a few days before just letting thm out. I take each bird and hold them in the opening a minute (while they memorize it) then put them slowely thru the bars. After a few days I release a couple at a time in late afternoon. ...

Thats great Tak. There is nothing like the first placement on a young dog. I shot Sal out of a 1st her first trial. Rick has quit running females because when running Gambles Low Country Miss, (Fritz`s mom) she would knock him out of Regionals and Nat`l trials because of heat. Sal is the first I hav...

As long as I have pups on great flying birds I free run them letting the birds teach them. If I see their natural abilities starting to digress I pull them off pen birds til they are of training age. I have Kages bro taking young training dogs for walks to find the birds for them to get them started...

Greg, if you are in a backing situation that you need to hold your dog, I always have a dead bird in my bag to throw, or after pointing dog retrieves it have the handler pitch it to you or for your dog. Glad you are making it to Darbys, they have alot of NSTRA people and they make for good judges an...

Primo is a product ofthe Hall of Fame breeding between Beires Ev and FC Aces Prima Banane. Rick had a littermate to Primo that was a NSTRA Ch. (Named Jackson under Important Dogs ). BIG. Rick calls him "Chug" I call him Bomber. He`s a big sweetie, totally serious about his birds and swimming too. I adore his personality tho. Thats true, but I train for them to stand thru the blank, or shot, even for Sr`s. You will have to stand to shot with no gunners on the back course. If your dog has a find there and stands, it is only good practice for the actual kill later in the bird field. If you allow them to chase down live bir...

Well Greg, if you see a bird get up and your dog makes a grab at it, and you look back at the judges and they are walking along talking and they don`t say anything, act like nothing happened! I was running some dogs today and noticed one dog eating something, did not pay much attention. Later I was out with another and that dog stopped and was munching too. There is no substitute for being in shape, that said, all we ever do is pop them the 1/2 Performance Bar before a run and 1/2 after. That is mostly in the warmer temps, which we have alot of. Growing up will help the stamina on your dog the most Grant. If you are working for a fast moving 100% perfo...

We have fed it for several years and love the way our dogs do on it, and training dogs many times leave looking better than they came. Dogs can come and go without that uckky change in stool. I have seen d...
