You can do sharpies in Nebraska--but no huns. There is Bessey National Forest in the middle of Nebraska or Mekelvie National forest in North Cental Nebraska. They are national forest but they are MOSTLY sand hill short grass country. Bessey is 93,000 acres and Mekelvie around valentine, NE. is about...

Re: Pigeons cohabiting with game birds, same pen

I keep my pigeons and quail in the same pen and don't have any problems with them dieing or getting sick. I just can't put my bobs up and let the pigeons free fly or I'll have some of my quail escape. I'll load my pigeons up in the truck and drive them away from my house and let them fly back home a...

Have you thought about buying a finished dog--that way you know what the final product will be -- one that exactly fits what you want it to do. Since it would probably be at least 2 years old to be completely finished, all the health checks have probably already been done (hips, elbows, etc.) Just a...

Re: A Novice and his Dog

I think running with a gun to catch up isn't a very safe way to hunt IMO  . The reason to stop the dog is: if the dog is getting out of range following the bird, it does no good to allow him to continue on and flush it out of shotgun range. If you stop him and catch up and then release him to t...

If you are going to run your pup get it used to being around horses---even if it is a walking stake or hunt test, the judges will be riding horses and you don't want your pup to spend his whole amount of time on the ground barking at or being scared of the horses-- instead of running and hunting lik...
