Force Fetch time?
I have a GSP names Jackson who will be a 1 years old next Tuesday 7/3. I feel like I am now ready to being the force fetch process. He has had basic obedience and it has been formalized. He knows how to turn off pressure. I have worked with him from around 5 months on "hold" very passive, no pressur...

NAVHDA NA test
I took the NAVHDA NA test in April thru my Potomac Chapter in Maryland. My pup did great except for the pheasant track. I think my training before hand did not set him up for success (to many drags- too much scent and not enough pheasants (tough to find one in my area). He just couldnt figure it out...

thanks for the comments...Just to make it clear..the dog has been shot over with .22 blank pistol, .410 and then 12g blanks. He is not gun shy and I am comfortable that we would have no issue when shooting. I do want him to be steady to flush thru fall eventually. anyone have experince if you have y...

when to shoot birds for pup?
I have a 8 month old GSP pup who has had about 30+ pigeons (planted in launchers). He seems to really be ranging out and looks to be hunting hard for the birds and is steady to flush. The question I have is when should I shoot a bird for him? Is there a equation on how x number of birds flushed for ...

Just got back......Jackson passed his first of four legs of the AKC Junior Hunt test today. He received 9s for each of the categories! I decided to test Jackson in the "NA" test this April. I was reluctant due to the water phase and the cold temps right now but decided to take him out and see how he liked the water. I had waders on and was able to walk out a bit and persuade him in with the bumper. He was reluctant at first but he ...
