Re: My Dog just diagnosed with Cancer -

15 days. Lady was diagnosed with cancer just 15 days ago. Put her on the steroids. They shrunk up the lymph glands. She ate well. Walked and ran and hunted on the 2 mile bike path. Got extra spoiled and extra loving. Ten days of steroids, and when they ran out the cancer showed back up with a vengea...

Re: My Dog just diagnosed with Cancer -

Treatment for dog cancer has apparently come a long way - but not far enough. My 4 year old female Vizsla had runny eyes for a few days. It was time for her shots so I brought her into my local vet. As she was being examined I commented that the lymph nodes under her jaw were also swollen. The more ...

My Dog just diagnosed with Cancer -

Feeling really bad.

My 4 year old Vizsla was diagnosed with Lymphoma this morning.

I'm kinda a tough old guy - but the tears were flowing down my cheeks in the vets office.

Sounds like a great adventure.

4 months is a long time to live out of a tent. Rain, snow, wind. Too long for me.

The RV and pulling another vehicle to use would work in my world.

Oh my. It is a different world today. Have you seen this news? I'm 54 years old and have been hunting, well, pheasant hunting with my dad and being around hunting dogs long before I could carry a gun, and for decades after. Hmmm - I don't get it. Here is a venue that gets people out with their dogs and bettering their birding skills. If it gets some people interested in working more with bird dogs, good for them. Pretty sure no one out there is getting a JH title and a FC title mixed up. Don't understand the negative t...

Have been feeding my pup Purina ONE® Large Breed Adult Formula . 26% protein and 12% crude fat. I guess I respected my local vet for sending me on. Panosteitis - Growing Pains

Had an interesting experience with my 8 month old Vizsla. Came back from a hunt, older dog jumps out, and the pup didn't want to get out of the truck. Got him out and he was lame and very tender on his left front leg. Brought him to my vet - she checked him out and couldn't find anything wrong. Gave...

I'm curious what some old timers would say. Are today's best dogs better than the best dogs from years back? And what criterion is being used? Competing and wins against today's dogs compared to competing and wins against yesterdays dogs? I think the best predictor of quality pups is still quality p...

Some amazing things going on in farm country. Land in some areas of eastern South Dakota is selling for $5000 an acre. CRP can't compete with what that value brings in cropland rent.

You can spend as much, or as little as you want in South Dakota. I have seen the Million Dollar Lodges (and they are SWEET!) and some people come and hunt the road ditches and sleep in their campers. You may want to check our website out. We are in SE South Dakota about 15 miles north of I-90. We have wild pheasants and a farmhouse you and your wife could have to yourselves. My family has been doing this since 1957.

Check us out at www.SkoglundFarm.com

I'm pretty sure my vizsla & GSP know that I am in control when we are on a walk and we stop and they sit before we cross the highway on a walk. When we are hunting, their training & instinct keep them on point. I would not want a hunting dog that did not have basic obedience training.
