Here is a guy to talk to that has a very nice litter coming up. I know the dogs in the pedigree very well for generations back! Should make good gun dogs, water dogs and nice easy house dogs. He is in Wisconsin- Jesse Schneeburg 262 468 6368. He has a facebook page where you can see the dogs, and is...

Re: Complete breed registrations. Ranking and 5-year trends
I believe, one reason AKC no longer posts the registration stats for every breed has to do with the AR movement. It was giving them fuel for their fire. Sadly, many of us fell right into the trap, started using limited registration for everything because we thought we were being good stewards of our...

I hate to hear this about a breed I love. Plain and simple, too many breeding without knowing a dang thing about the dogs behind the dogs. When you are looking at a pedigree, you want to look for the depth of the pedigree. Meaning, is there one FC in the background or 10? Are there multiple MH's behind the names, or just a couple. If you see a whole bunch of dogs in the background with performance titles, you will know that the breeder...

Re: My dog result of inbreeding
I have always thought that those who utilize line breeding have a direction, and a breeding program.
Those who only outcross are breeding dogs and hoping for the best.
The very best breeders utilize both line breeding with the judicious outcross here and there and know why they are doing it.

TDT- sounds like the breeder of your dog knew what they were doing! Line breeding in and of itself is neither a good or a bad thing, IF you know what you are breeding. If you know the dogs in that pedigree, have seen them, watched them and like what you see- it's a good thing. If you don't know thos...

Raised and trained several FC's on 20 acres with access to about 60 acres owned by neighbors. Luckily we lived in the more rural area of our county, so could road dogs along power lines and some other land nearby.

The continentals are NOT limited registration. Lets take the DD or DK. They can be bred to a GWP (DD) or a GSp ( DK) and the pups can be registered but registered as GWP or GSP. If they are tested in NAVHDA or VDD and achieve puppy points, they can then be registered in the German system. ummm, don...

As a side note: I do believe that we should breed for extremities in function to avoid drag on the breed. This is pretty much what the show end of the breeds think as well. Two other tools you might consider- a Furminator and Mars Coat King. The Furminator will remove a ton of dead undercoat and allow the coat to lie flatter and smoother. Use it every couple of weeks to keep it down to a dull roar. The Coat King will take both undercoat and the longer outer coat off. T...
