Rebuilt batteries for Tri-tronics G3
I looked all over for a battery for one of my 2 G3 receivers. Finally decided they don't sell them anymore. Fortunately I found Lake City Feed and Seed in Lake City, MI. They rebuild the G3 batteries for $35 + $5 shipping. Am sending my battery today. If it doesn't work out, I'll post that info. Spike

Re: Raw vs. kibble
Hi Luvthemud, Thanks for the reply and for your experience. I have had a bunch of dogs over the years (I'm an old guy) and for my second pair of Brits, I did the home-made food thing. So I know where you're coming from with the observation of "messy," and I also understand, "I will never do it again...

Raw vs. kibble
I go to a park to run my dogs and know a lot of the folks/dogs there. There's a German Shepard that's had all sorts of problems but now looks and moves great. The owner says she's changed to Halshan premium raw food (locally produced and frozen). This dog runs about 10% of what my dogs do but it's h...

Fat/protein recommendation
I just found this article in my American Hunter. It's probably old news here but I found it both interesting and confirmation of the "dogs need fat for endurance" concept.

Re: rattlesnake vaccine
Went to the other thread and read the posts. This seems to be a different story that the vet told me. He said that about one out of 250 dogs get a bump if the vaccine is given correctly, that it's not a problem and that the bump goes away. The "trick" is to not get any of the vaccine in the muscle o...

I bought rattlesnake vaccine for my dogs from a vet & gave the shots myself. Got needles and vials of vaccine for $30/shot. It takes 2 shots ~3 weeks apart to confer immunity. I just noticed that the Vaccination Station offers rattlesnake vaccinations for $30/shot. Don't know if this is something th...

Re: Getting thru to a wild pup... help appreciated
All, This may be old news to some or most of you but I discovered a kind of "trick" that helped me control both my Brits w/o choke-chains or pronged collars. I just use their normal flat collar but run the lead over their left shoulder, under the dog and out in front of the right leg. I have no idea...

Re: Want to switch dog food & would like advice on what & how
Here’s the status: I’m currently feeding Science Diet Advanced Fitness and Diamond HH, 50%-50% and there is no gum-rubbing but both dogs are still a bit pink around the eyes (surrounding tissue). So, I have no real conclusions as to whether or not the food is contributing to the apparent allergies. ...

Re: Want to switch dog food & would like advice on what & how
With my prior pair of Brits, I used to make my own dog food. It was a real hassle but I was doing it about that time when the Chinese started shipping over the melamine in their wheat flour or whatever it was to cheat on the protein content test. That killed some dogs and made a bunch sick so I was ...

Re: Want to switch dog food & would like advice on what & how
I have seen dogs do that and thought they just lost their napkin. Many animals will do that but never saw it as a sign of an allergy. Mine tend to do it more when they haven't been brushed or groomed. They love to do it on a chainlink fence. Has to feel good to them. I do the same thing on t...

Just what you are doing but also cut back the amount when you get switched. You can start increasing slowly if you need to but I think you will find they don't need as much as you have been feeding. I'm interested in the symptoms that lead you to believe they both have allergies. It can happen, tho...

I'm with Gonehuntin. I run pretty much the same whistle. What are the best wistle commands?
I'm trying to train one of my Brits to whistle commands and have scoured the net to try to find what are good whistle commands for the various behaviors. Breeders do your new pup owners register their pups? Since AKC has made it so I can look at my litters online, I've noticed only between 50% to 75% of the new owners register their pups with AKC. I just can't imagine paying $500-$600 for a pup and not spending $20 to register the pup. We recently b...
