Classic 70 G3 too powerful??

I had a sport forever, worked great, but i lost the transmitter, so I bought a new classic 70. Put it on the lowest setting and dog got pretty vocal with just a nick, took it off and used it on myself felt like a pretty sharp pinch and that was through my jeans. I don't want to read too much into the statement that you have only had to shock him a few times.
