Re: My GSP back from trainer malnourished?

Just wondering scoelki, why did you bother to ask the question? It is your dog and you do have the right to keep it fat if you want. I just wanted to know if my dog was being fed from the trainer or not. I am more upset paying a $1000 and this is how he came back to me. I don't want my dog fat at a...

Re: My GSP back from trainer malnourished?

I've said this before on here but here it goes again!! There isn't any muscles over there ribs or hip bones! So if you can't seem them then your dog is fat! Your dog looks like mine out in the kennel. He was prob fat when you dropped him off!!! Doesn't have to be muscles .....how about some meat (n...

Re: My GSP back from trainer malnourished?

Wow ok maybe I am over reacting a little. I appreciate all the feedback and advice. I am new with German Short Haired Pointers so I really don't know their metabolisms when they are working hard. I was embarrassed to even bring my dog anywhere cause people would think I was abusing him. Kylemac you ...

Re: My GSP back from trainer malnourished?

I may be a little thin but probably has been worked hard. I wouldn't be too concerned with how he looks. He looks like he is muscled to me. If you want him heavier then you will have to increase the calories and/or decrease the exercise. Ezzy Should I be able to feel all of his bones and see the sp...

My GSP back from trainer malnourished?

So I just picked up my 11 month GSP from the dog trainer on Friday. He looks to me really malnourished. The trainer had him for 6 weeks and I can see my dogs spinal cord , most ribs pelvic and shoulder blades. There doesnt seem to be much muscle. I am not too happy about how he looks. Actually I am ...

Re: Dog kind of pointing...should I be worried?

Good news from Saturday! My GSP is finding birds and going on point =D. I was like a proud Dad that day. He is quartering and finding birds wooohooo!!!. I told the trainer that he doesnt even seem like the same dog. I was so happy I did not have to take the dog home for not hunting. So he will be th...

Re: Dog kind of pointing...should I be worried?

Dog has been at the trainer for a few weeks now. He got attacked by a coyote on Father's day while I was out with him off leash in a field at an elementary school :(. I wish I could of shot that "bleep" thing. So he finally made it to the trainer two weeks ago. Tomorrow will be the first time I get ...

Re: Dog kind of pointing...should I be worried?

If you are worried about $$$$ think about dividing the total amount spent by 10 years. Then factor in how much of a pain in the arse it would he to hunt with a dog that may not hold point when its the only bird of the day. If he is not progressing well it might be money well spent. At 8 months ummm...

Re: Dog kind of pointing...should I be worried?

he is 12 weeks old right ? so sounds like he is pretty much right on track and I would suggest just socializing the dog teaching it basics like its name and here then if you have the means send it to a Pro near by and go once maybe twice a week to Listen watch and learn from him what he is doing wi...

Dog kind of pointing...should I be worried?

Well I have an 8 month old GSP that was given to me at 12 weeks old give or take. I don't know much about the dog's lineage. So I took the dog in because he was such an awesome looking pup and still is. I have taken him to a trainer a few times who uses traps but the pup doesnt really point the bird...
