Re: Make the WHINING STOP!!!!

Don't be so sensitive. When you post a question on a public forum, you get ALL answers, not just the ones you agree with or the ones you like. I doubt you will help yourself by complaining about the answers you don't want to hear. If you will read and reflect on the information posted by some very ...

It was awful :D You are doing the best you can between classes and study to get the dog out, you consider yourself an outdoorsy person so it's no problem rig...

He's also in the process of training you..... Now after he's been run he needs to learn to settle, put a lead on him in the house and put it on your foot or stand on it while you are reading, on the computer, phone......whatever. He needs to learn to settle and lay by you until your ready to ...

Re: Make the WHINING STOP!!!!

you have a dog that needs to RUN. if you are not taking him out and letting him burn off that energy then you have to deal with the consequences. When my GSP lived in the house if he didn't go to the field 3-5days a week to run for an hour or more he was un bearable in the house. A walk on the leas...

Haha no, I didnt misread I knew what I was getting into with this dog and honestly I can not complain. Re: Make the WHINING STOP!!!!

Ha all this dog does is run. He is up around 730 when my girlfriend goes to student teaching. She lets him out for 20-30 minutes brings him in and feeds him. He usually comes by me and naps for about 30 minutes after that and then its on for him. Usually between 10 and 12 in the morning I am out the...

Make the WHINING STOP!!!!

Ok, Ive posted about Hans before he is an 8 month old GSP, lastly about his broken leg that he has fully recovered from now only 13 weeks later and he is back to full speed and activity. We bounce back and forth between two houses, one back home and one up here at school. Back home he is fine, other...

Re: Rehab for my gsp (broken leg) Ideas?

Also it was not a fracture, clean break in the ulna and radius on his front right leg. The radius was repaired with a plate and 9 screws, he was in a cast for two days after the surgery when they instructed to take his cast off. He is 7 months old, which makes this even more of a pain! Growth plate ...

Re: Rehab for my gsp (broken leg) Ideas?

In no way am I rushing is rehab. I am following exactly what my vet has said, I guess I should be more specific next time, forums always convey wrong information. When I say he runs in the house he is doing this in the time I let him out of the crate to go outside, eat etc. I have followed the vets ...

Rehab for my gsp (broken leg) Ideas?

A couple weeks ago I posted the story about how my pup broke his front right leg. Im sure the vet will give me ideas, but in about 2 or 3 weeks he goes back for xrays to just make sure everything has healed ok. They expect full use of his leg with no long term effects with this break and surgery, so...

Anyone in Western WI or Eastern MN?

Im sure most of you regulars have seen my posts in the last couple weeks about my GSP. But anyway my 6 month old GSP just returned from a two week gun and bird intro. He has a crap ton of prey drive and I am happy with him. This is my first bird dog and being in College I cant afford to always get h...

Re: 6 month old GSP, where to go from here

He is on the check chord so pulling him in is the only option. Without the check chord you wouldnt be able to get him close enough. He does the same thing with a bumper or a ball in the back yard. When he is in the house he retrieves to hand over and over and over again. You could use the same bumpe...

Re: 6 month old GSP, where to go from here

I have not shot any birds over him as I have seen that the bird is a reward for him after he finds and points it. I pick him up tomorrow from the trainer and Ill see more about what he has done. The trainer has used both live and dead birds for him and has him on a check chord the entire time.

Ya I am guessing they are raccoons as we have them all over our yard. Along with muskrats. However there was a duck nest under there this spring as well, I cant imagine they would be this far from the pond this time of year but maybe he got a whiff of the nest again?
