Can a beep collar teach a dog not to stop?

My Lovett's beeper came in the mail last night. I was running out of day light so I quicly figured out how to turn it on, gave it a quick test, and out we went. He was a little intimidated by the sound, and by that I mean he was clinching the side of my leg. He didn't like his bell at first either s...

Congrats, patience pays off with those type of Setters......continue to be patient and only shoot pointed birds and you should be golden. Thanks for the advice. Patience is something I wish I had a lot more of. I am so into this dog now that he calming down at home (the pointing goes a long way too).

Is he conditioned to the gun? He is very comfortable with the gun. I picture him running ahead and putting up the bird long before you get there. For a young dog this would be fine for me as I want him to learn that he can't catch the bird and start to hold his point longer. I believe he is startin...

Need advice on hunting with a young pointer

Hello, My 1.5 year-old Ryman Setter is beginning to hold his points better this year and I am looking for some "finer detail" advice. So, last night he had a great point on a woodcock, he held the bird for about 30 to 40 seconds so that I could get to within about 3 feet for the flush. One of my que...

So, we went through some tough times with our Ryman Setter earlier this year but he's matured quite a bit over the past 6 months. Lovett's makes what I consider the least offensive beeper on the market. It has a few options on how you use it. How do you prepare wild Pheasant for the table? I shot some pen raised Pheasant years ago and they were fairly tough, but my cooking skills are horrible at best. I've always wondered this about wild Pheasant. With grouse I usually make a chiken and biscuit type dish and it good stuff.
