Re: Kennel septic
I'm wanting to install a system that I can wash everything, including solids, down. I assume it will have to be a home type septic system. Any ideas?

Kennel septic
Building a five run kennel. Will have a gutter in the rear of kennel and would like to hose everything down. Any ideas on a septic system setup to handle liquid and solid waste for five dogs? Very sandy soil.

Horse at Ames
I want to attend the national championship this year and ride in the gallery. Time to set the ft hook even deeper. I don't own a horse and don't have a ton of riding experience. I have ridden horses but it's been years. Is there anyone at Ames that rents well broke, well mannered horses suitable for...

Re: Upland odyssey
Skinning out of Texas on the 7th of September, camper and dog in tow. I really want to focus on huns and sharpies til they start getting spooky. Then head south for bobs. I'm thinking western nd and ne Montana for huns and sharptail. I can't seem to get a good idea of where to find concentrations of...

Re: Upland odyssey
Towing a 17' camper with a V6 Tacoma 4x4. Not ideal but its going to have to work. Hauling the shorthairs in a dog box in the bed of the truck inside camper shell, sleep inside the camper with me at night. I have thought about hunting Utah and Idaho. I have no set plan as to where I will hunt, open ...

Re: Upland odyssey
I've been searching around for phone service coverage in those areas to no avail. The sat phone sounds like a great idea. I know nothing about them/renting them. Any suggestions? Looks like I'm going to just pull a small bumper pull behind my truck. Seems the most practical.

Re: Upland odyssey
I'll definitely look into the sand hills and pull the truck. We don't need hookups every night. Just on occasion for some luxury and to recharge. Just trying to minimize money spent on parking. I've seen where some national forests and grasslands have free parking for RVs.

Re: Upland odyssey
That would be awful kind of you! Want to focus on sharptail and Huns so I might just head to ND first and skip SD. Not sure yet, as I've just started researching, where I will hunt in ND but plan on being there around the 10th of September. I really appreciate the help.

Upland odyssey
I am planning an upland journey this fall from September to the end of January or so with my GSP. I intend to hunt only public land in SD, ND, Montana, Idaho, Kansas, and maybe Oklahoma. Was planning on taking my 25' RV and pulling a small 4x4 truck. Also debating just taking my truck, a wall tent, ...

Re: Trainer in Texas
I just got a dog back from Dan Hendrickson at Phantom Kennels in Abilene. Took him at 9 months got him back at 12. When I dropped him off he had limited experience with birds but was pointing and was comfortable with the shotgun. I hunted him the day I picked him up and couldn't have been more pleas...

Re: Where are the birds?
Well, despite the bleak outlook I'm gonna head north the last week of January. I reckon a week in the field with my pup can't be too bad. I love watching him work and just being out. Birds would be a plus but the experience is the key.

Re: Where are the birds?
No birds seems to be a reoccuring theme everywhere. Don't know what to do then. Really wanting to find some wild birds. Hard not to rely on internet research when I live so far away. Also a shame that I have access to tons of great country here in Texas that have hardly any quail. Once beautiful sec...

Re: Where are the birds?
I've actually been leaning towards Kansas and Arizona. Favoring Kansas since I can chase bobwhites as I have no experience with gambels. I don't plan on shooting any birds, just expose my pup to some wild birds and work on steadying him up. I'm thinking somewhere in the north central part of the sta...

Where are the birds?
I have a one year old pup that is doing great on released birds but needs wild bird exposure. I would like to run him on wild quail but there are few huntable populations in the areas I hunt. Looking for some suggestions on where to find wild birds on public land. I have a week of vacation to burn a...

Re: Quail hunting video
I apologize for the terrible filming skills and the whoop nonsense. The boy gets so excited around birds I have to keep him focused. We were hunting birds we had turned out the day before. The farm we were hunting normally holds a couple coveys but this year was tough. There are a few left only beca...

I have a 9 month old GSP male. I have been doing yard and field work with him. He has been introduced to birds and is pointing well, creeping about 25% of the time. His whoa and heel are ok but I'm having problems with recall. I am also having problems with keeping him to the front and quartering in...

Re: too much rough play
It's amazing to me how much energy this little guy has. I run 3-7 miles five days a week and take him with me most of the time. When we water and get back in the truck he goes straight to sleep. The drive home is about five minutes and as soon as we are home he's 90 mph again. I keep him in the heel...

too much rough play
I have a four month old gsp and my roommate has a ten month old lab. When we let them play together they go nuts yappin and biting. Normal puppy play but occasionally one pup gets mad and bites. The thing is, my gsp will never stop. The lab will quit playing but if I would let him my pup would never...
