Re: What Age to Spay?
Are there any negative behavioral or mental side effects to waiting until after 1 year to neuter males? Do they know they're gone? Any loss of drive or desire to hunt? I have heard of friends dogs who were neutered after 1-2yrs and they say their dogs just aren't the same anymore with less desire t...

Re: What are you driving?
Anybody have a Jeep Patriot? I'm coming around to the whole smaller SUV thing... Some of these seem to get pretty great fuel economy. Not really worried about hauling more than two dogs and a little gear. Hubby had one, we weren't impressed. It felt really tippy, the way the steering column is set ...

Re: What Is Your Feeding Time Like?
I do a constant feed for my dogs, they eat what they need and I keep the feed bucket full. All are in great shape. I can put 4 feed buckets in there and it will last a week or longer, same with the water. Helps the guy I use when I go away on work or vacation. If I did this, I'd have an 80+ pound B...

Re: What Age to Spay?
You cannot simply link a dogs coat condition to spay/neutering whether its at 6 months or 1 year..there are SO many reasons their coat is dull or patchy or fuzzy ect..it could be the food they are being fed(especially something lacking in the diet), flea allergy, thyroid, worms, skin conditions, an...

Re: Puppy question
Find a big area I prefer the command lead and as the pup takes a drive forward past my leg I will do a 90 degree angle away and let him get a collar jerk as he when he comes to the end of the lead I will zig zag turning into and Hey if he is in my way he has bumped into me because he wasn't paying ...

Re: To spay or not to spay? What age?
I know I'm new on here, but this is really a love hate topic to me. My answer would be........ it depends. The options are, pediatric spay/neuter which was basically started by the SPCA so that the dogs/cats they have do not go on to make more unwanted pets. I've had one dog that was done at 12 week...

By that definition I used to own a hunting rottweiler. He used to flush up the pheasants that the speed ball Brittany ran past.blueblood wrote:Technically, if you break it down, a dog that will hunt birds should be considered a bird dog, don't you think?

Re: A little about you...
Hi there, 44, married. Husband hunts, I don't. Unfortunately he's on the road so much that training basically has fallen to me. Currently we have a 10 year old Brittany and are eagerly awaiting our new pup who is due in April. Hoping to put dual championships on her in both Canada and the US. We liv...

Re: A Hired Trainer and A Pups Age?
Hi, this is my first post here but it's a subject that is very important to me right now. Basically, I'm willing to do the puppy training, but have a bum knee, can't ride and I live in Canada. So I want to find a trainer that will take my dog in, train it for field trialling and gain her a US field ...
