We will be hunting quail soon, here in north Georgia on private land which is stocked with pen raised birds. The third week of January will be woodcock time here in Georgia; we should have the flight birds from up north at the Piedmont WMA.

I shoot a browning A-5 in 12 ga with screw in ckokes, many think this gun is heavy and bulky, but it fits me like a glove, and i could not make any improvments on the way it funtions, (flawless), so my point is if a gun feels great when you bring it up to the shooting possition, that is the gun for y...

I use the e-collar as soon as the dog shows he or she wants to do what they want to do and not what you want them to do, but if you make it a priority to build a strong bond from day one with your puppy, you will have little trouble with your dog doing what you want them to do, sleep with your dog, ...

Gunshot training?
I would like to see more written on the subject of introducing a puppy to gunshot, I have had several Llewellin setters that i have raised from puppy's, and everyone reacted differently to the sound of gunshot, i would start off by slapping my hands together, then shooting a 22 cal blank pistol, tha...

If anyone out there is most interested in training a grouse dog, here is one thing i found that will help you but more birds in your game bag. If you have any dove in your area, find out where some of them roost and about a half hour before dark walk your dog to ther roosting area (upwind) very slow...

I agree, western and northern Maine has very good Grouse and woodcock hunting, if you go late October the leaves are mostly off the trees and birds are much easer to see when Flushed, unless your a meat hunter and shoot them on tghe ground.

I have used a Browning 5-A light 12 for skeet and sporting clay's and all my hunting for many years and can't tell you how many thousand of rounds went through it and never had a problem of any sort. I just change the chokes according to need. Most of my hunting is grouse and woodcock in heavy cover.
