Re: Any of you feed raw?
My dogs get a combo of raw chicken (frozen) and cooked (rice, veggies, meat). I like leaving the raw frozen so they work on it for a bit and it keeps their teeth clean; I saw zoo keepers doing something similar with treats for zoo animals and figured it would work for my dogs. Raw also seems to comp...

Re: Vizsla Pedigree Insight
I have no insight into a particular blood line, but I can endorse the breed as family pet, and hunting buddy. I don't think I would go with another breed. My dog thinks she is human, is ridiculously smart and learns new things really fast. She is fun to have around and I am really glad I found this ...

Re: jerseys in heat....8 months old tomorrow..
I just got a 3 yo female who is about due to cycle. I think I am going to have her spayed...can you do that when they are in heat? If not I guess I need to get that done before it all starts.

Re: TO HUNT ALONE OR NOT
I mostly hunt alone. I can hunt for awhile, sit under a tree and take a nap and basically do whatever I want. Before I leave I leave a map to the area I am in. Even here in AZ, most of where I bird hunt is within cell phone coverage so people can reach me. If I am out of cell coverage I give a time ...

Dog Shipping
When I was a kid my dad would buy dogs from people out of state. I know that those dogs were shipped somehow but I was too young or disinterested in how that worked. Now I see some dogs that I wouldn't mind having for sale in other states and was curious about what you guys do when you sell out of s...

Re: dog lifting his leg
Mine pees all over all my stuff like my grill, chairs, fire pit etc. I had to electric fence him out of the area so he can't do it anymore...I love the underground fence!

Looking for a local dog trainer in Tucson
Long story short. I got the dog with the intent of training her myself. I managed to get the basic obedience stuff down and broke some bad habits she had. Now with the gun dog stuff, I think I need to get a professional due to time, equipment and other issues. I would like someone in the Tucson area...

Anyone, for any reason, regardless of age, experience or background can readily buy a shock weapon, strap it on a helpless animal and shock them as often and as intensely as they see fit.

Re: Dog DNA
I think the original owner has the papers but never filled them out. He has the entire "packet", including the paperwork for the identification chip that he never filled out. I was told he would have to find them and when he did, he would send them to me. Papers aside, it's more about whether or not...

Re: Dog DNA
I got the dog from a private seller who wasn't able to keep her anymore. The papers aren't a huge deal to me, I have no intention of breeding her, I was just curious about it.
At some point I am sure the papers will end up in my mailbox, in the meantime I just keep on training the dog.
Thanks.

Dog DNA
I see a lot of mention of DNA testing for dogs when it comes to different dog/kennel clubs. Can I get my dogs DNA tested and get AKC papers from the DNA tests? The reason I ask is that the guy I got her from is a bit slow in getting me my documents, so I was wondering if in the meantime this might w...

Re: Invisible Fence Layout Help / Recommendations 300 acre farm
I agree with everything that was posted but would just like to add: you can make the width of the invisible fence field huge. If you are worried about dogs running through the field and getting past it, just make it really wide, the shock will be going on long enough to get their attention, even if ...

Hi From Tucson
Hi, Had some hunting dogs as a kid, mostly beagles for rabbits and one black and tan we got for raccoons. I recently picked up a Vizsla, who was not formally trained, but I had to have her. I'm in the process (almost done) of breaking some of the bad manners she picked up. In less than two weeks she...
