Re: Loose Stools
@bossman I do see your point that we aren't DVMs. Loose stools aren't a dire problem. Every tip mentioned can help in some cases. If good husbandry can solve a problem without a vet that is really great thing IMO. If people care about their stock enough to participate here, they are probably smart e...

Re: Dog Chiropractor
1vizsla & pheremes1- Thanks for chiming in on this thread!! I've had bench dogs for years and am just starting with field dogs- I joined this forum to learn from field dog people. Do you do any other holistic things with your canines, or just chiro and acupuncture? One thing that I really would like...

Re: Supplements
I started in dogs on the bench side off the sport. Having dogs in bloom was a great key to my success. I had several breeds through the years, and I almost never had a dog in top condition without supplements. I also have tried every expensive food around trying to avoid supplements. I found that de...

Re: Diamond Natural?
I am happy with Diamond Natural, and considering the price, I am thrilled with it. I keep the brood bitches on the Beef and Rice formula- my vet who is a repro specialist suggested that I should avoid chicken based foods due to hormones in the chicken, and I have better litter size and more predicta...

Re: Dog Chiropractor
My experience has been that a good DVM that also does chiro work is a lifesaver. Do some looking in your area. The Holistic Vets have a web site with a directory.

Re: Loose Stools
It has been my experience that whip worms and cocci can be very evasive to fecal test and are the usual culprits when chronic loose stools are present. I had dismal results using Albon for cocci, and have done the pumpkin, probiotics, and everything mentioned above, some dogs just seem to take longe...

Re: Pork Dog Foods
Ryman- can you supply more information on the food you showed photos of?? I can tell you that pork fat produces the best skin and coat of any of the fat sources. Pork is calorie dense. II would love to find a pork based food that wasn't full of grain.

Re: What Do You Feed?
There is no perfect dog food, so I rotate among the better ones I can find and afford. I avoid chicken forumulas for anything I am going to breed. I have found that doing this has improved my litter size and conception rates.
