Re: Chewing up bird wings

With a few days of working with my dog I got him not to chew off the wings from the bumper, and to make a clean pass to my hand. I so excited, I know it was just one time for 20 mins today, but we had a great training section. :D First, I worked with him without the wings and added a few drops of ph...

Re: Chewing up bird wings

The wings are attached when fetching and I also play games where I hide them for him to find where they are not attach to anything. If they are attach he will return it to play fetch, but he licks and chews on it along the way. If the wings are not attach he try to swallow it. My dog has just turn o...

Re: When and if: Bark collar

I had to live in an apartment last year, and I had to kennel my dogs. This was my experience and I hope that it may help you. It took them sometime, but they got use to it. One thing that help me is to run them to death before and after work. I Played fetch in a dog park, or walk them for about an h...

Re: Food problems

I had the same problem, first thing is to speak with a vet. It can be worms or a slight obstruction. If there is vomiting with the diarrhea then he should be taken to the vet. My dog was negative and was healthy, so I switch his food. You may want to try feeding your dog rice and no treats for right...

Re: Another dog food question

I have been told that dogs do better on a no corn and wheat brand of dog food. I switch to Diamond Chicken & Rice Hi-Energy. It was 38 bucks for a large bag, but my dog seems to be doing better on it.

Re: Upper canine teeth

I worked as a vet tech for 5 yrs. I have seen in smaller breeds were they did not come out on their own, I never seen a large breed were they didn't. If they don't the vet can remove them

Re: JERSEY ON BIRDS TODAY (POLICE CAME)

. There is no way I'll be able to use a loud cap gun. I got a toy cap gun from walmart, figure it is a great starter point, and is 100% legal. A pistol that is only capable of firing blank loads isn't Illegal or require a fire arms card here in IL don't know what kind of Laws they have in CA but yo...

Re: Has anyone hunt with a JRT

Sounds like you both have great little dogs, I think I'll spend more with my terrier and see what happens. She does like to smell out rabbits and chase after them in the field that we walk sometimes.

Hello Troy,

Thank for the welcome, and good look on your crabbing trip. Should try for a sturgeon while you're up here. They are biting is what I hear.

Re: To neuter or not to neuter?

I'm new to owning sporting breed, and was wondering if I should neuter my CBR as well. I do work at an animal shelter, so I see a lot of unwanted dogs of all breeds and mixes. Many are from backyard and unwanted breeding. Many stray dogs that I pick up are unaltered males looking for a mate, and by ...

Has anyone hunt with a JRT

I have been working with my 1 yr old Chesapeake Bay Ret, and my 15 lbs Terr mix is also wanting to hang out and is interested in the bird wings too.Ok with the cap gun noise. She has always had a high prey drive, and retrieves balls ect. I was thinking she might be good at smaller game birds. I was ...

Hello from Vallejo, Ca

I'm just now getting into bird hunting, I adopted a CBR 5 months ago, and he is now 13 months. He has been started with upland birds, has a great prey drive, and retrieves in his sleep. His name is Hoyt and his favorite past time is swimming in the San Francisco Bay.
