Re: Never had this happen
Short single I throw - but the long bird is launched with a remote launcher. Training program I am following? The one I have used for 19 yrs - granted I have not FF'd a bunch of dogs (maybe 50) but I have done it a bit - mostly versatile dogs - but enough labs to make it interesting. My FF program i...

Re: Never had this happen
Well, I am doing short retrieves to drive her out - without collar pressure - and it seems to be helping when it comes to handling drills it will get interesting I think but we aren't doing much of that just long marks - on single marks she does not do it - but on doubles she does - picks up the go ...

Never had this happen
Working one of my labs - she came through FF great - obedience is good - but when sent to a pile or lining drills - on the command "Back" she spins and then proceeds to pick up the bumper or bird - always happens about 10 ft away - she doesn't refuse she just spins. I think this is a result of the F...

We may go out there but likely to hunt woodcock here closer - Paducah is a 300 mile trip for us. East Texas is 100-150 mile trip.
Re: Woodcock!
Gonna try my hand at woodcock hunting in east Texas with my pointer and brittany - may be an exercise in futility since I have only seen a few in my life but what the heck what else do I have to do on New Years Days PS We found 1 woodcock pointed by my brittany and I hit the bird I just couldn't fin...

Re: are Field Trialers afraid of wild birds?
I run all my trial dogs on wild birds - first in the summer for pheasants, sharp tail and some huns, and in the winter we run on wild birds - in fact I just placed 4 out of 4 placements with 3 dogs in juvenile stakes - 3rd, 2nd and two 1sts, all these dogs worked wild birds two weeks ago and are goi...

How was Crow's Little Joe outside the breed standard? English setters in the AKC are pretty dogs but I probably would not own a "dual" english setter - not athletic enough for me - they have a tendency to run slow and lopey to me. Undersized. Same as at least one of his notable predecessors. Hmmm d...

Howdy - We have found a camp for summer - but we need to get an insurance rider before they will commit to renting/leasing something to us. So far no go Any ideas - it has to be a general liability policy with or without professional liability insurance - that includes horses and dog training. Thanks
