Always kinda hard to tell from pictures but he already has furnishing so he will not be a smooth coat. Looks to me like he will have a nice tighter wire coat. Doesn't look like he will have a soft coat.
PS. I know my picture is of a GSP (my breed) but my Husband has and breeds Pudelpointers

Really people? Please just share and get the word out. I did not do the write up, just copied from the wonderful shelter that took this dog in and is paying for his medical bills to get him healthy and is doing everything to find the dog's owners. I just saw this story on one of the facebook pages I...

Re: Littermate syndrome prevention.
Forget any syndrome - I would never have two dogs that close in age. I had two labs long ago that were about a year apart and when they got old and it was time to say good-bye, it was within a year of each other. It is hard enough to say good-bye to a faithful companion and BFF but two so close toge...

Re: Snake bites
My dogs get a rattle snake vaccination and I carry injectable Benadryl. I have heard by several different experts that different types of rattle snakes have different scents, so if you take your dog through a voidance class that uses Diamond Backs they might not smell the same as a Timber or Mojave ...

Not that I would buy a GSP with tan but some of the early GSPs were tri colored. Don't forget, the GSP was developed using pointing dogs and hounds.

Re: Parvo question
Vaccinated or not, a dog can still get Parvo. We had a dog that was about 2 1/2 get Parvo and the dog was fully up-to-date on vaccines. We soaked the backyard with several doses of bleach and water and have had no other dogs come down with it. Best thing to do is get a Titer Test done to make sure t...

Re: Cool looking new hunting vest
It is a nice looking vest but I wish it had a place for bottle holders too. So much easier for me to water my dog with a water bottle then with a hydration pack. I have been looking for a new vest and needless to say I have been looking at the WingWorks, more so now that they have room for a hydrati...

There is actually an AKC coding for a white GSP to put on the application so it must happen more then one would think. Of course, all white is not acceptable in the AKC standard (but then again, neither is black). http://www.akc.org/breeds/german_shorthaired_pointer/color_markings.cfm Color The coat...

Re: What doy you put on your dog collar tag
I do not think putting the Microchip info is redundant, because if someone finds your dog that has no intention of finding the owner, just might have second thoughts if they know immediately the dog is chipped. Perhaps if you didn’t have the Microchip info they would not even think about a dog being...

My Lucy was 39 lbs. I like them small. She had no issues with retrieving anything. She passed last year at the age of 16, perhaps the small size helped in her longevity.
