Re: E-Collars and the Brittany
My Britt wears the ecollar almost every time it leaves the house. When he see's me take it off the hook he jumps for joy and knows it means "fun time" for him. Although I do turn it on I very rarely have to actually use it now as he is obediant and whistle trained. I consider it long range insurance...

I have handled the Instinct SL in 20G. It is extremely light but I actually like that so am seriously considering a 26" x 20 SL as my next purchase. Compared to other O/U on the market I actually find them a bargain really.

Switch from my Sport Basic G3 to a Pro 200 G2?
I presently have a Sport Basic G3 and have a line on a Pro 200 G2. I could probably upgrade for @ 125 bucks. The increased range is tempting as my pup does have pretty good wheels. Other than the extended range what advantages could I see by upgrading? Would the 200 have the capacity to add a beeper...

If you have always used 870's then I would look for a 20 guage wingmaster, I am not impressed with the quality of the newer Express Remingtons. The old Wingmasters were great guns.

My Britt can move swiftly through dense grouse and woodcock cover. I can see an advantage on a retriever used on big water and harsh conditions but other than that they just take more room. I guess if you hunt the open cover out west then a longer legged dog might have some advantage but I can't see...

@terry Can I ask why a crate is necessary? I've had inside dogs before and when we were gone they just roam the house. Is it different with a dog like that than with a hunting/inside dog? I had planned on just letting this dog roam as well and while she's a pup was gonna be in a playpen at night. S...

The first thing you need is a good crate for him to sleep in and be contained when you are out of the house and he can't come with you. As for Dvd's the Rick Smith series is great and watch them before you get the pup. As for the E-collar you really don't need it until he's around 8-9 months and has...

If you can find a light 12 then don't feel it is too much gun. Don't forget it also can shoot 7/8, 1, 1 1/8, 1 1/4 ounce loads just like a 20g. and 16g. but can also go up from there. If you plan on doing any waterfowl hunting this makes a big difference.

I use 2 Citori O/U which both have 24" barrels. Most of the time they have IC/IC chokes in them but I hunt in very heavy cover compared to what many on this website hunt in. I find it a better investment than paying for sessions where pigeons are used or you can't shoot the birds. My dog is a gundog first and shooting birds over him and letting him taste/retrieve them is time and money well spent IMHO. Pen raised pheasant makes a nice meal also.
