In the off season I feed a 50/50 mixture of Acana and Kirkland. During hunting season I go 75% Acana 25% Kirkland. I find the Kirkland stuff very good value and dogs like it.

My Britt will be 6 this summer. I know that I will need to bring in another dog to make sure when he ages out I am not caught without a useful trained hunter. Truthfully I am perfectly happy with just the one dog and I worry how he will react to a new roommate. He can be quite alpha around other dog...

I also do allot of the same type of hunting as you, pheasant club over a pointing dog. I choke my guns Sk/IC and it works perfectly. If I hunted over a flusher I would use tighter chokes but over a well trained pointer there is no need to choke tighter than IC I find.

I started out on Purina PP with my Britt and he never did well on it. Have switched to Acana Grasslands and he is doing fabulous with it. It's not cheap but I only have one dog to feed so not a big deal really. I also give him meat scraps and the odd bowl of venison.

Quality SxS guns tend to be pricy so I use O/U more but some day will finally find the "right" SxS. I want a 26" barrelled 16g. with English stock that is built on a gauge specific frame weiging around 6 1/4 lbs. Tough to find without selling a kidney.
