Re: Shoe/Boots Question
My horses are barefoot. I tend to agree with above posts, If the horse has good feet/hooves, then there may not be a need for them. However, if you are riding rocky terrain you may want to shoe just to ensure that the hooves don't crack and split. Shoes in TW alot of the time are weighted to help he...

Re: Food type recommendations
I've always liked Purina. Dogs always did good on it. Never noticed bloat or sour stomach with it either. But then where I am it's hard to get feed. Only a wally world and a farm king so choices are limited unless i wanna drive about 45 min.

Re: Dogs and Neighbors
Thought the tread was about dogs and neighbors...must be on the wrong thread. No I would Never clip a dogs cords. How horrid. Proper training can do a lot. My dogs do not bark unless there is a problem (aka. intruder, be it animal or person). As far as a bark collar...would rather put that on some p...

Re: anyone notice....
Summer is here. Training is not being done as frequently as it would come fall or even winter and not much going on in the field. Soo let's see some pics of dogs messing around and not acting like they have any training at all.... My dogs favorite thing to do is play keepaway with my hat. Or yard w...

Re: IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN!!!!!
I know I could use a few pointers and by pointers i mean tips. It's been over a year since i was really able to work the dogs well. I might be able to get some domesticated birds as well if someone is interested. And as I said, motels close, place for horses, running water NO indoor housing for hors...

Re: Whats does your dog do while you're away ?
I'm home with my dogs almost all of the time any more. but when I do leave they are kenneled. Generally for no more than 2 hours at a time. If I am going to be gone for an extended period of time the old dog chills in the kitchen and the 2 younger dogs have a nice sized out door kennel. The 2 outsid...

Re: Singing to your bird dog.
Would rather sing to my dogs than the general populace. The dogs don't give me a hard time for not being able to carrying a tune in a bucket. In the field i do kind of a long drown out Woooooooooooop boy/girl and like a yodel noise...lol don't really know how to describe it to be honest. Was how I w...

Re: 24 - 18 Feed
I agree with Ezzy. I mean I wouldn't chance changing a feed, especially if you are in a hot area (hard enough to keep stuff on feed when it's hot and humid), if there isn't anything that you particularly dislike. I haven't changed feed w/ my dogs in...well ever. If I am running my dogs hard I may ad...

I totally agree Sue. Part of the reason I am just "doing my own thing" so to speak. It seems to me that instead of helping the breed as we all should, we spend more time pointing fingers, making accusations and just down right being rude! I have always been one that keeps an open mind and feels ever...

Not trying to step on any toes but...the "vet" really doesn't have to say anything considering we aren't paying him for anything. I mean it would be like calling your doctor and asking him to give you his advice about an ailment but never going to see him. I thought it was nice of him to even say an...

Re: COMPANION DOG VS KENNEL DOG
Ruth, I'm not what i would consider "experienced" but I feel I can give you some input here. I have 5 dogs, 4 of which are Llewellin Setters. 2 are outside in a kennel and 2 are in the house. Now, from what I have done with them: 1 is a 6 yr old female that I received as a trade for doing work at a ...

This is actually a bit more complicated than the Llewellin being a subset from the English. To be quite honest, alot of the history is muddied. I would genuinely encourage you to go to http://shoeleatherllewellins.com . This man was my mentor and probably has the greatest knowledge of these dogs of ...

Re: Looking at possibly starting up a kennel
Why do they have to be agressive? Wow your limited knowledge of trial dogs shows. A dog has to be a gentle and obedient dog to field trial. It can have no aggression traits if it is to be at all successful. Breeding just companion dogs is what fills up pounds. Working dogs get used their entire lif...

Toni loves her crate..I have never had a dog that was so happy to be there but she will even just hang out in there as pictured here. The rest are a little less excited to just go in but all ride in crates for the most part.

Oh my I have had sooooooooo many many good dogs through out my life as a "dog mom". I don't know if i truly could say I personally have a favorite breed.
